Beautiful Time
Location was perfect and really hidden. Atmosphere was perfect. Room was outstanding. There was no noise very quiet and so clean bed was beautiful.

Overpriced and underwhelming! I feel cheated
I stayed at Cave Hotel in August for my birthday and left feeling completely underwhelmed.
At £550 per night for a two-night stay, I expected a luxury experience. Instead, all that seemed to come with the price tag was a standard bed in a small room. The hotel is heavily marketed and looks impressive online, but in reality it feels vastly overpriced for what you actually get.
The pool is tiny and realistically only accommodates around four people at a time. There is very little to do during your stay, with no real entertainment or activities available. Unless your plan is simply to sleep, don't expect much else from the experience.
What disappointed me most was the arrival experience. There was no warm welcome or sense of occasion. Checking in felt no different from arriving at a budget hotel or a basic bed and breakfast, which is hard to justify when you're paying premium luxury prices.
The aesthetics are overrated and don't make up for the lack of value. To make matters worse, almost everything around the hotel comes at an additional cost. By the end of the stay, I genuinely felt cheated out of my money.
I've stayed in far better hotels for significantly less. Unfortunately, this place seems to rely on hype rather than delivering a luxury experience that matches its price tag.
I would not recommend staying here unless you're happy to spend hundreds of pounds for little more than a mattress and pillow. In my opinion, there is simply no value for money.

First and last stay
On arrival, we discovered that the air conditioning in our room was not working. I was not contacted beforehand, emailed or warned in any way that the room’s air conditioning was unavailable.
Instead, an industrial air conditioning unit had been placed in the room. However, this was not even working when we arrived. This looked nothing like the photos of the room published on your website.
We contacted reception numerous times. Johnny was as helpful as he could be and did his best to assist us, but we were told that there was no maintenance staff available to deal with the issue.
We subsequently had staff coming in and out of our room attempting to resolve the problem. After several hours, the industrial unit required emptying. Once this was done, our carpet was left soaking wet.
When the unit was eventually working, I was shocked by how incredibly loud it was. I specifically asked how on earth we were expected to sleep with such a loud industrial machine running throughout the night, but there was no alternative offered to us.
The noise was so excessive that we were kept awake for the entire night and got no sleep whatsoever.
This completely ruined our night.
This was particularly unacceptable given that the weather was extremely warm, with temperatures outside approaching 30°C. We were effectively left with the choice of either having an extremely hot room or running an industrial air conditioning unit that was so loud that we could not sleep.
The industrial air conditioning unit also required a large pipe to be fed out through the window, meaning that we had to keep the window open.
As a result, we had numerous flies entering our room throughout the day and evening.
The following morning, we found dead flies on the floor of our room.
I found this absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable, particularly for a hotel room that I had paid £447.04 for and booked specifically as a luxury birthday experience.
Having flies entering the room and then finding dead flies on the floor the following morning was not remotely what I expected from a hotel of this standard. It made the room feel unhygienic and added to what was already an extremely disappointing experience.
As if the above wasn’t enough, while I was getting ready, the heavy solid-wood unit underneath the television fell down and off the wall.
This was extremely alarming and could have caused a serious injury had someone been standing or sitting underneath it at the time.
Again, we were told that because there was no maintenance staff on site, it would simply need to be left.
I find it extremely concerning that such a heavy piece of furniture could fall from the wall in an occupied hotel room.
I want to make clear just how distressed I was during the stay.
I was extremely upset and was crying in front of staff because I felt completely overwhelmed by the situation.
This was supposed to be a special birthday surprise for my boyfriend. I had paid a significant amount of money for what I believed would be a luxury experience, and instead I found myself crying and feeling embarrassed in front of hotel staff because of the condition of the room and the problems we were experiencing.
I did try my best to remain calm and carry on with the birthday plans because I did not want to ruin my boyfriend’s birthday. I genuinely tried to put everything aside and enjoy our stay.
However, the combination of the broken air conditioning, the industrial replacement unit, the excessive noise, the soaking wet carpet, the flies entering our room, the dead flies on the floor and the heavy furniture falling from the wall became completely overwhelming.
Most importantly, we did not sleep at all that night because of the noise from the industrial AC unit. This had a significant impact on the following day and meant that we were unable to enjoy the stay as we had planned.

No acknowledgement of our anniversary whatsoever
We were disappointed with our stay, as we did not feel as welcomed or valued as other guests. As Muslim women who wear hijab, we felt that some members of staff treated us differently and did not provide the same level of attention, warmth, or friendliness shown to others. We also felt overlooked when celebrating our anniversary. Before our arrival, I emailed the hotel to ask if they could arrange a special anniversary gesture but received no response. I then contacted reception, who confirmed that an anniversary dessert could be provided; however, the gesture was only a simple brownie from Korean Cowgirl rather than the thoughtful presentation we had hoped for, such as a plated dessert with “Happy Anniversary” written on it. I had planned this as a surprise for my partner, but the lack of acknowledgment and effort unfortunately affected what was meant to be a special occasion.

At Cave, we pride ourselves on being welcoming and inclusive of everyone, it would never be our intention for any guest to feel undervalued. Fantastic wedding
We recently held our wedding at The Cave, arriving the day before and leaving the day after.
I can’t really speak highly enough of this venue in all aspects.
The venue 10/10
The staff 10/10
The food 10/10
The way we were looked after from booking 14 months prior to everything on the day was nothing short of world class. I don’t think we made any outrageous requests but the few things we did ask for as additions were no trouble at all and everything was spot on.
The accommodation speaks for itself, the beds are the most comfortable I have ever laid on!
The food in the restaurants draw accolades and it’s easy to see why. Since our first meal there we’ve been back many times and will continue to do so.
We ended the weekend on first name terms with so many of the team, and thanks to Megan, Chloe, Lauren and Ellie and all the others I’ve not named; you were all so kind.
We’ll see you all very soon!
