maybe give the steak a miss?
A fantastic looking beer garden at back, just no one in it. could be awesome. Sign of the times perhaps?
Food kind of a mixed bag. Pork starter very good but ribeye steak really poor. So bad I left half of it as unable to cut through it with a steak knife so much fat through it.
Also. mostly raw, not close to medium rare, more tartare. Suppose better than overcooked. could've asked to have it cooked more but due to amount of fat didn't bother, others at table having steak had same experience. chips and peppercorn sauce mediocre. Had far better steak dinners in pubs etc at fraction of cost.
I believe rest of group enjoyed all their courses.
wouldn't rush back for food.

Such a shame it is not better
We ate in the stables for lunch.My beef costing £32) was served in a soup bowl with horrible runny polenta.This was just awful and so inappropriate to the beef. It looked like runny porridge.I asked for a dinner plate and also after I complained they brought me some sliced fried potatoes which I could have done at home . Luckily I had ordered a side dish as the main course was clearly incomplete.
£6 for 6 tiny carrots !
I wasn’t paying but I felt very sorry for my son who was.
The Bonnie badger is definitely missing the fantastic head chef Matthew Budge.

The Bonnie Badger is not so bonnie!!
The wine list was uninspiring and over-priced and my main course (pork tomahawk) was so overcooked you could barely cut it. The sides were also lacking in variety and none were appropriate for the one main course that I was attracted to.
The service was slow and the staff looked disinterested and lacked enthusiasm and polish.

Wee treat
We stayed outside the main building in the Paddock with our own private garden, lovely & well equipped, felt luxurious and well appointed.
Bar serves a good range on local beers/lagers & spirits- not ridiculously priced either.
Staff were lovely and helpful with some just the right level of banter and nonsense.
