Excellent service

We stayed at Belstead Brook from Monday to Friday last week. As I had recently had a hip replacement operation we had requested a ground floor room with walk in shower, when we checked in at reception they confirmed this and helped to take our luggage to the room. The room was very clean and comfortable, there was a table fan available as the weather was very hot.
We ate in both the bar and restaurant in the evening, the food was well cooked and tasty.
We also had breakfast every morning and would like to make a special mention for Kela, she was very efficient, she made sure the buffet was replenished as needed, cleared empty plates regularly and cleaned and replaced cutlery when the guests left.
I would also like to mention Joe who helped sort out a problem with disabled parking and carried our luggage out to the car when we were leaving.
Overall we had a lovely break.

Beautiful exterior but disappointing room

Very disappointed with my room. Double for single use - not really - although bed was double. The room was in need of some TLC and was depressing and dark. It’s only hotel of this rating that Ive stayed in where the towels were threadbare & worn. I was on an organised trip but travelling alone and had booked for an extra night, but decided to cut my stay short and leave early
Staff were friendly and helpful, hotel grounds were leafy and spacious but my room on ground floor let the hotel down

It was like a bad dream.

We booked into this place for a 4 day break.
And I thought I would look to see if it had improved.
Our experience was dreadfully awful and we only stayed 1night as we had to sleep somewhere and left the next morning.
It is poorly managed, maintained and does not give anything remotely value for money.
I’m even surprised it’s still running.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and found it to be great. The staff were really helpful, the pool was lovely and warm and the rooms were clean. The only issue we had was that the hotel was obviously having problems with water pressure. We could have a boiling hot shower but if you tried to turn the cold tap on, the whole lot stopped working. Other guests were having the same problem and it was also causing issues in the pool area. We spoke to the lady at reception and asked if we could have a room with a shower that worked. She went upstairs herself to check the shower in an unoccupied room and gave us a new key. We were very happy to find that we had been upgraded which was a nice surprise. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. I also had a massage in the spa and it was probably the best massage I've ever had. It wasn't perfect, but problems were dealt with efficiently and the atmosphere was really friendly. I would stay again.

Four Day Spa Break

We recently had a four day stay at Belstead Brook Hotel & Spa and found it to be a mixed experience.
The hotel has potential, but overall it feels quite dated and would really benefit from some refurbishment. The décor throughout is tired, and the gardens looked a little neglected. It would have been lovely to have some well-maintained outdoor seating, such as nice tables to relax outside and make the most of the grounds.
Breakfast was good, with a decent options available.
We only ate in the restaurant on one evening. The meal was pleasant enough, but it had more of a ready-meal feel than freshly prepared food.
Unfortunately, the spa was disappointing. It felt grubby in places, and there were missing tiles around the pool area, which gave it a poorly maintained appearance and took away from what should have been a relaxing experience.
Overall, the hotel could be much better with some investment and updating. While there were some positives, the dated décor, tired grounds, lack of parking at weekends and lack of maintenance in the spa mean we wouldn’t rush back in its current condition.

We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your breakfast and appreciated the range of options available. However, we're sorry that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations.
As a historic property, Muthu Belstead Brook Hotel retains many of its original features and character, which many of our guests value. While we understand that this style may not appeal to everyone, we continually invest in maintaining and improving the hotel, and your comments regarding the décor and gardens have been noted.
We're also sorry to hear that your evening meal did not meet your expectations. Our chefs prepare dishes fresh to order, and we regret that this was not reflected in your experience.
Regarding the outdoor seating, we would like to clarify that the hotel does have outdoor seating areas located at the front of both the bar and the restaurant, where guests are welcome to relax and enjoy the grounds. We are sorry if these were not brought to your attention during your stay.
With regard to the spa, cleanliness and maintenance are taken very seriously. The facilities are cleaned and inspected regularly throughout the day. Whilst there are a small number of cosmetic issues, such as some pool tiles requiring replacement, these do not affect the safety or operation of the facilities, and maintenance works are carried out as required.
Regarding parking, weekends can be particularly busy due to weddings, leisure guests and spa visitors. Whilst we have a large on-site car park, demand can occasionally exceed availability during peak periods, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
We appreciate your balanced feedback and thank you for highlighting both the positives and the areas where you feel improvements could be made. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future.
