Great hotel

Great wee hotel confy beds clean rooms. Staff brilliant. Beer garden great definitely recommend. Great weekend stay all staff very polite and helpful. Very good cleaner. And lovely atmosphere. Definitely stay again. Food also good. There's nothing more t say lol

Stay home. Trust me.

We refused to stay here. We rebooked elsewhere. There was no bathroom, not even a toilet. A sink at the foot of the bed was it for facilities. A shared "bathroom" down the hall was available and we weren't told about the fact that it would be shared facilities. Room was filthy, smelled TERRIBLE and a TV was hanging on the wall over the bed, so that anyone who slept against the wall (as bed was pushed up against it) would have smashed their face off the TV when they sat up. For the first time in my 51 years I have refused to stay in a hotel. I would give negative stars if I could. The only reasons they got one star is because the lady at the bar was lovely about it.

Avoid Portman hotel like the plague

Horrid place. Absolutely filthy. My bed was not clean. Smelled of food and BO. Carpets have not been hoovered in years. Windows were dirty. Never slept a wink. More of a hostel than a hotel
Please avoid if you have any sense . Pay a wee bit extra and go somewhere clean

Overnight stay

Went to visit family for the weekend, and this '3 star' hotel seemed to the bill, with nice looking rooms and a reasonable price, with parking available.
Parking was very limited, and not available overnight. Single room was very small. Paint stain on carpet, broken electric heater, TV remote didn't work, wooden bed wobbled and had screws sticking out of joints, electric shower went cold after a couple of minutes, difficulty filling kettle (had to fill glass from tap and pour into kettle).
Had to phone reception to get someone so I could checkout, as no-one around.
I certainly will not be staying here again.

Dissatisfied

The front off hotel is awful . Inside the bar is nice . The whole of upstairs apart from two family rooms need a complete makeover . Furnishings upstairs need replaced as do the beds . It would not take much too do it up as it’s an old building in reasonable nick . Paint work inside good but the bathrooms need torn out and redone . The breakfast is magic the meal at night was so full off grease. Not good . The staff are so helpful and lovely right down to the cleaner .the manager was very nice to my family too . But some money needs spent on the place and there was no need for the loud disco as there was no one there . Background music is fine . It could be a great place has potential. I personally was cold at night as no heating on
