Amazing from start to finish!
We booked a relatively last minute stay at Faweather grange to celebrate our 19 year anniversary and our first child free night away in years. We splashed out on the Den which has an outdoor cinema screen next to the hot tub. What can I say…absolutely fabulous from start to finish.
We were running very late due to car troubles. The owners went out of their way to make sure we could access the lodge irrespective of the time. They were super friendly and warm which is just what you need when you have car related anxiety haha!
The lodge itself is just gorgeous. Perfectly quaint and charming with all the wood finishes. We made good use of the log burner which was set up for us. The kitchen has absolutely EVERYTHING you could need. It is better kitted out than my kitchen at home! The bed is wonderful, four poster with lovely comfy pillows and a nice view out the window. We had the added surprise (didn’t realise before booking) of a sauna in the bathroom. We were in heaven!
I treated myself and my husband to a spa treatment at the lodge. He had a back massage and I had a facial. Is there anything better than a spa treatment in a log cabin in the countryside. I’m not sure there is!
We stayed for two nights and on both nights we sat in the hot tub with a bottle of champagne (in our plastic flutes of course) and watched a movie. I wish I could have stayed a week.
I noticed a review mentioning the owners being rude. This couldn’t be anything further from our experience. They were kind, generous, friendly and clearly very passionate about hospitality. We were in our hot tub till nearly 1am each night but we were considerate and kept the cinema sound to a minimum. It seems to me that if the owners did have to turf anyone out of the hot tub it’s because they weren’t showing the same consideration to others. This is not Butlins. It’s a peaceful, relaxing and decadent place to spend quality time with your loved ones.
The location is fantastic. We went on a 2 hour trek in the countryside which was beautiful despite the weather. We even did a little bit of pitch and putt on their very own quirky course. Hilarious!
I’m not someone who normally holidays or takes mini breaks in my own country. After visiting Faweather which is only an hour from home I think I’m converted to staycations!

Relaxing getaway
We travelled as a couple with our dog, Manny, and stayed in Serenity which definitely lives up to its name.
We stayed here around 8 years ago and definitely knew we’d be back again. The cabin is gorgeous and we really appreciated the Prosecco and Toblerone welcome, even Manny had some treats waiting for him which he promptly dealt with.
The cabin was small and cozy and the log fire in the corner really made it perfect, even though we didn’t use it, it really added to the aesthetic. This cabin even has a sauna in the bathroom! The owners have really put in the work to make each cabin unique and special and it really shows.
My dog has never been on so many walks in 4 days, he thought it was Christmas. He especially loved his secret walks through bluebells where he could paddle in the stream below. Sorry to anyone he barked at walking past our cabin, he believes that we are the only 3 individuals that should exist and belongs to the neighbourhood watch.
The nature here was beautiful. In the very early hours I saw rabbits jumping on the grass and even a deer for the first time ever. And as a bird lover I was in heaven. Every night I could hear the Tawny Owls in the woods and the morning chorus was lovely to wake up to. Every morning I would open my bird app to identify all the different tweets. I was acquainted with a pheasant that flew seemingly out of nowhere and scared the life out of me and I even heard a cuckoo when walking around the golf course.
The hot tub was fantastic, we even went in when it was raining because it was so warm. I was worried that we would be a little exposed as the hot tub was on the side of the cabin near the path but you could only really see our heads bobbing and that’s if you really looked out for us but the place was so secluded that it wasn’t a problem at all.
I can’t leave a review without mentioning the beds. I have never slept so well in my life! The pillows and bed were so soft I didn’t want to leave. I’ve been googling goose down feather pillows since we got home.
We will definitely be back again and might even splurge on one of the bigger cabins. I cannot recommend this place enough.

The hideway

We recently stayed in one of the cabins and overall had a lovely experience, with a few areas that could be improved.
We stayed in *The Hideaway*, and it truly lived up to its name—peaceful, private, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The cabin itself is quite spacious, with a comfortable double bedroom and an additional bedroom with two single beds, which would be great for families. The bathroom was a good size and well laid out, although the shower pressure was quite weak. The kitchen/dining area was quiet and pleasant, with a nice table to sit and enjoy meals.
The views are absolutely stunning, and the outdoor space is a real highlight. The seating area and hot tub were fantastic, making it easy to relax and take in the surroundings. We also had no issues with the WiFi, despite seeing some previous reviews mention problems. Having our own parking space was very convenient, and the TV worked perfectly. The sheets and towels were spotless, which we really appreciated.
However, there were a few downsides. The road leading to the grange is very narrow with very few passing points, which made driving in and out quite stressful at times.
Once we settled in, we noticed a few cleanliness and attention-to-detail issues. While not major, they did feel disappointing given the price (just under £800 for three nights). There was only one toilet roll provided, no welcome pack, and no basic kitchen essentials like oil or condiments, which felt a bit unwelcoming. Some areas of the cabin—such as the kitchen cupboard doors, windows, interior doors, rug, and cream leather sofa—were noticeably dirty. It gave the impression that only a basic turnaround had been done between guests rather than a thorough clean.
The on-site golf was also a bit underwhelming.
That said, the grounds themselves are exceptional and clearly very well maintained, which adds a lot to the overall experience. It’s also worth noting that a £100 deposit is required on arrival.
In summary, this is a beautiful location with a great cabin setup and amazing views, but a bit more attention to cleanliness and guest experience would make it truly excellent.

We are sorry to learn that there were aspects of your visit that did not meet your expectations, and it is a shame you did not contact the office during your stay, as we would have welcomed the opportunity to address your concerns immediately.
Regarding the Wi-Fi, this was upgraded approximately a year ago. There was also a supply of tea, coffee, sugar, milk sachets, spray oil, salt & pepper cruets and two additional toilet rolls provided in the cupboards within your lodge.
I would also like to assure you that we do not carry out only a “basic” clean. We have additional staff responsible for detailed kitchen checks, including ensuring that all glasses, crockery, pots, and pans are clean and free from chips or cracks. In addition, we operate routine quarterly deep-cleaning programmes and will, of course, investigate the items you have mentioned.

Amazing stay
Beautiful park, stunning location and lovely lodges, beautifully clean and tidy and had everything we wanted for our stay. Staff very friendly and welcoming and provisions were made for our elderly not so mobile dog as requested, couldn't fault the care and attention with that. Will certainly be back again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Perfect, Peaceful Escape at Solitude Lodge
We’ve just returned from the most wonderful week at Faweather Grange, staying in Solitude Lodge, and it was exactly what we needed — quiet, relaxing, and completely restorative. From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming and thoughtful. We walked into a spotless lodge with prosecco and chocolates waiting for us, which was such a lovely touch.
The lodge itself was beautiful and cosy, with a fantastic log fire that made our evenings feel extra special. We made full use of the hot tub, sauna, and jacuzzi bath after long walks with our dog — absolute bliss. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, even giving us tips and maps for great dog‑walking routes in the area.
A special mention to the gentleman who came to check and clean the hot tub regularly — he was genuinely lovely and made sure everything was perfect for us.
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, with great facilities and truly caring staff, I couldn’t recommend Faweather Grange enough. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our next visit.
