Amazing
A lovely guesthouse within easy walking distance to the town. Rooms were very clean and provided everything required, daily breakfast basket was plentiful. Amanda was a very friendly knowledgeable host. I would highly recommend if staying in Lerwick.

A hot Shetland stay
The room was beautifully decorated with a large four-poster bed and a spa shower. However there was not a lot of room if you like a big room! The room was hot too - surprisingly for Shetland as we were not expecting this to be the main problem of our stay here. There was a fan which took a little bit off the heat but the windows wouldn’t open far. It was an uncomfortably hot sleep.
Breakfast is, as others have said, left in baskets in the room. It is hit and miss - we loved the porridge but not the many other very sugary additions. Others would absolutely love waffles and flapjack for breakfast but it was too much for us for two days. There was a good microwave which we used one night for quick, easy microwave meals after a long day and we didn’t want to eat out.
The spa shower is a perk and nice to wake up to. The room was spotless and clean and the bed was very comfy. The Norlande is very central to get into Lerwick but also sat in a beautiful part of town. Five minutes drive to a big Tescos. The St George’s gardens were a revelation - a peaceful oasis of calm for us to sit in and enjoy the flowers away from any hustle and bustle.
Unlike the previous review we had no dealings at all with the owner who corresponded by email. There was clearly someone living in the downstairs room/flat but we had no contact with. A good stay but if you like your space, this is not for you.

Lovely guest house
What a wonderful experience, Amanda is a lovely host. My daughter and I were very comfortable there. If you get a chance to take her tour do it. She is very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend staying with Amanda

Definitely not value for money won’t be returning
Although the room was ok the biggest let down was the breakfast !!
Although plentiful, it was full of so much sweet and chocolaty stuff we couldn’t eat it. Chocolate filed croissants chocolate chip flap jacks sugar coated crunchy nut cornflakes etc etc. Apart from the three apples in the fruit bowl there were no healthy options !! Even they didn’t look that appetising!! The long life yogurts and the lack of decent coffee completed the picture ! As a previous reviewer mentioned, there was butter and jam in the fridge and a toaster but no sight of any bread ♀️
Coffee machine had 3 pods of / guess what ?! Hot Chocolate !!
I guess if you’re a lover of chocolate this is the place to go but not for us !!

DANGEROUS & NEGLIGENT - EVICTED AT
DANGEROUS & NEGLIGENT - EVICTED AT MIDNIGHT
I am writing this review to warn others of the dangerous and shocking behaviour I experienced at Norlande.
The stay started poorly with a tiny room and, as I was only informed the day before arrival, a toilet three flights of stairs away. However, this was nothing compared to what happened later.
At around 12:15 AM, I found water leaking from the base of the coffee maker provided in my room. To prevent an obvious electrical hazard, I immediately unplugged the unit. Pulled the unit out to see if it was leaking else where. The owner then burst into my room, furious about the noise.
I clearly explained the situation and pointed to the leaking appliance. He even looked at the unplugged cable and about the place. He completely ignored my concerns for safety. His response was to evict me on the spot.
He threw me out onto the street in Shetland, after midnight, in the cold. I was left with no choice but to start the 23km walk to the airport to make my morning flight. He had also called the police, who stopped me on my walk but were reanobly understanding once I explained the situation. A local resident kindly gave me a lift for the final few kilometres.
To be placed in danger by faulty equipment, and then be evicted and abandoned by the owner for simply dealing with that danger, is the worst treatment I have ever encountered from any business. This was not just bad service; it was negligent and unsafe. For your own safety and dignity, I strongly advise you to book elsewhere.
