luxury guest house full of character

Stayed in this remarkable old building which has been beautifully renovated. Helen is a welcoming host and very knowledgeable about the local area. The breakfast was delicious, and we were even given a freshly baked muffin to take with us. Minor issue with our room's bathroom being quite small and no door on the shower. But overall highly recommended.

Wonderful host but sadly super dusty and not so clean:(

We stayed for one night in the deluxe suite and unfortunately the room wasn’t as clean as we had expected. There was a noticeable amount of dust throughout the room, and we found quite a bit of hair which made us feel uncomfortable and affected our overall impression of the hotel. Given the excellent reviews, this was really quite disappointing.
That said, the host was absolutely lovely. She was warm, welcoming, friendly and genuinely seemed to care about their guests. The breakfast was also excellent – fresh, tasty and a real highlight of our stay.
It’s clear that a lot of effort goes into looking after guests, which is why it’s such a shame that the cleanliness didn’t reflect the same standard. With more attention to housekeeping, this could be a fantastic place to stay.

Friendly host, great location and very clean.

Close to the beach and lovely walk along the coast to Saltburn by the Sea.
Helen is a fantastic host, a lovely walnut and carrot muffin each to take home
warm too.
The room very clean with toiletries. Tea, coffee, biscuits, chocolate bars.
She sat with our dog for a while too while we were out as she heard a whistle noise, his whimpering.
Well worth the price. Would stay again.

Moonfleet

Booked here last min due to a booking issue with another hotel, On arrival the hotel is a lovely very impressive renovated house.
Helen the owner was fantastic there was nothing too much trouble for her, the hotel is quirky threw out with lots of little touches that make it unique, the bar area was comfy with an open fire and lots of books and games scattered around to keep anyone busy.
Breakfast again was outstanding the food was 10 out of 10, Helen then brought in hot homemade muffins to take away which was a lovely touch would recommend and stay here again.
The area is about 30 mins from Whitby with a small pebble beach close by, only one pub near which was full but we didnt miss anything as the bar in the hotel was so much nicer.

Absolutely the best place to stay

Don’t stay anywhere else if you want to be looked after to the highest of standards. Don’t stay anywhere else if you fancy a trip to Whitby but don’t want to be at Whitby doorstep.
From arriving to leaving it was an absolutely pleasant stay.
Breakfast is the best, bed is so comfy. The rooms are clean and beautifully/uniquely furnished. The owner Helen is an absolute treasure. One in a million lady. This was our 2nd stay and we’ll be back again next year.
