Lovely hotel

We stayed here for one night for a stopover on our way to our holiday. The hotel is situated a short walk to the town centre and next door to the Talbot Yard Food Court. The family room we stayed in was large, bright and clean with another bedroom adjoining our bedroom, which my granddaughter slept in. This is the first family room we have stayed in where there is a separate bedroom, usually amu family room we have stayed in consists of a double bed and a single bed in the same room, so this was an added bonus. Breakfast was very nice and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

VERY GOOD BUDGET FRIENDLY SMALL HOTEL WELL PLACED IN MALTON TOWN CENTRE.

We were gifted a Ryedale Vineyard wine tour & tasting and decided to make it into a 3 night break. We chose the Mount as it was well placed for the town centre and Market Place, plus it was a very reasonable price and has onsite parking.
We requested a room on the first floor and a nice view and that exactly what we got with a view across the river to the rolling hills, couldn't ask for better. The room was spacious with a nice shower room and had everything we needed, a little minibar would have been nice but we are talking about a small family run b&b/small hotel.
Since covid I have become used to carrying anti-bacterial wipes whenever we go away to wipe down rooms. The room was very clean I didn't pick up any dirt or dust on the wipes so well done there, The bar and dining room furnishing are dated but they are more than adequate and like most small businesses they are probably struggling to keep their heads above water. There's a nice patio in front of the hotel with the usual picnic type tables with parasols to have a drink outdoors which we were grateful for in the red hot weather. The breakfast was fine with choice of full English and things like poached eggs on toast. I dropped the Mount a star because they have stopped doing meals apart from a Sunday Lunch, I appreciate it may not be a viable option to do meals, but they need to maybe offer something like a cheeseboard with crackers, celery, nuts, grapes etc, easy enough to do and would go perfect with a drink on the patio, rather than a bag of crisps or nuts.
The hotel has much potential but can understand once again it's probably not viable at the moment in view of the fact that Malton seems to be going into decline with many empty shops and businesses closed down.
We hade a nice stay and wouldn't hesitate in recommending The Mount and we wish them well for the future.

Excellent pub with great atmosphere

Fabulous pub in malton, great food and beer. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much, if you’re also looking for somewhere to watch football with a good atmosphere this is the place, alongside its lovely restaurant which is separate. Highly recommend this pub

Lovely hotel in Malton

Hotel I’ve stayed at now 5 or 6 times since 2018. Small family run affair, convenient location close to main road to York/Leeds/Scarborough, 5 mins walk to station. Lots of local places to eat and drink as well as offering food and drink at its own bar

Disappointing and completely overpriced.

Our room was up the top in what looked like the servants quarters. The room was dirty, there was no toilet paper, buckets had not been emptied. Wardrobe handles were broken off. When we complained we got moved right away to room next door which was ok. To be fair I think the owner (?) was mortified and did get on to housekeeping and he was very apologetic. Breakfast was good - poached eggs were perfect! Would we go again Definately not.
