Fabulous stay.

I wanted to share our fabulous stay we had as a family of 4. Two adults, two young children 5 & 6.
The location is fab being straight across from fistral beach, parking on the other hand is a bit of a nightmare but we found this with Cornwall in general.
The hotel itself is fabulously equipped for families, we particularly appreciated the kids robes in the room and hot chocolate making facilities in the room including marshmallows. These little touches are lovely.
The hotel is well presented although it is safe to say it’s an old building and so expect little issues here and there. Nothing major and nothing worth complaining about.
We did have an issue with the noises of the rooms, we were on the 2nd floor and received a noise complaint one morning. This particularly upset me as we aren’t a noisy family but due to the thin floors, our children walking caused enough for someone to complain. I do understand but at the same time we would 100% not have let them run around as we are respectful to the fact we are in a hotel with many other people staying.
The staff handled this wonderfully, despite me being so upset to even return to the room for fear walking across it could cause an issue again.
We did ask to move rooms but unfortunately they were full.
This is something that needs to be addressed by the hotel as I can see other people have said they have disrupted by it. Perhaps ensure families are placed lower floors if possible? (I’m sure you already do)
We only ate in the restaurant once and it was lovely, it wasn’t busy when we ate there.
Despite this we had an amazing stay, loved the hotel, loved the pool, cinema and play area.
The staff are amazing and super friendly and helpful.
The only issues are what can’t be easily fixed, parking and building quality.

Family friendly

A blip with communication right at the start of booking left us without a sea-view room. The hotel were quick to apologise and added in extras as an apology which was appreciated. The real feature of this hotel is the view, so if you get a room without a sea-view, it feels a little generic and, for us, it didn’t have that wow factor. The family room was clean with nice touches (fruit squash, marshmallows for the kids, hot chocolate, kids bathrobes) but it was small and a bit claustrophobic. All the staff were lovely and the activities near the restaurant are a nice touch. It would have been nice if air hockey/pool were included rather than pay as you go.
The pool is very well maintained and clean. It is however small with no natural light.
The cinema room is a great idea. The later film at 8pm felt a little too late to keep our kids up for after a busy day on the beach.
Parking wasn’t a problem - although it is a total lottery.
The beach this end of Fistral was much quieter. We liked the coffee and ice cream vans just outside the hotel.

Beautiful but not the most peaceful

Front of the hotel was boarded up because of storm damage which can't be helped. Location was beautiful and the pool facilities were amazing. Don't get the breakfast if you are vegetarian, the sausages are in edible and my poached egg was cold I couldn't eat and had to pay £25 for it. Rooms were tidy and had everything we needed. Unfortunately every step that the people above took could be heard which was constant, it was like living under a drum circle, the lights even shuddered which prevented us from sleeping in which you meant to do on holiday.

A trip to Cornwall

Generally goid.
Very pleasant helpful staff & food good.
Only issues were, when a voach party were staying, we needed to wait 1 hour for a table at dinner, and had to move rooms due to v noisy air con unit / fan just out of our window.
Staff sorted it out & new room much better.

Avoid at all costs

Great location but hotel is an absolute shambles. From the moment we entered the room we could smell an extremely unpleasant wet mouldy smell. When entering the bathroom the walls / mirrors and sinks all covered in hair. Had to complain and get the cleaner to carry out another full clean. TV was broken door also broken and rusty. The hotel was also extremely noisy you can hear every movement from both sides and above. We did visit the pool and jacuzzi which was full of brown dirty water. Sauna smelt of petrol. Food from the restaurant was extremely salty and almost inedible. We would never stay in this hotel again. On a plus note the staff were friendly and we felt extremely sorry for them as they admitted the hotel was plagued with issues and constant complaints.
