An excellent stay with a few suggestions to make it even better!
We were slightly nervous at staying in a ‘dog friendly’ hotel and room. We read other reviews which seemed to suggest that dogs were everywhere. That simply was not the case. Yes we saw a few very well-behaved dogs but the hotel manages them really well. Of particular praise - the cleanliness of the room. My partner often sneezes when in the vicinity of animals and yet he was fine in our room. The hotel is quite firm about how dogs are managed and we really liked the ‘ three barks and you’re out’ rule from the separate dining room. On that, we really appreciated the fact that while dogs could be in the dining room, they had to be in their own room / area.
We had the DBB deal and we thought the food was excellent. Dinners were really lovely, beautifully cooked and good portions. If we had one quibble, it would be that the menus are very fish heavy (including breakfast) and another alternative / non- fish dish as a special would not go amiss. Also breakfast was good but service from the kitchen was really slow as it’s so busy and it did sometimes have a slightly chaotic feel with one waitress in particular running everwhere!
Finally, we had one issue which was not the hotel’s fault. There was a large family in the 2 rooms above us and they were incredibly noisy. They had a couple of children who enjoyed galloping everywhere. The family seemed to return to the hotel later in the evening and then the noise started - jumping around, banging and slamming of doors. It may be worth the hotel putting up some signs asking guests to keep noise to a minimum especially after 10pm. Unfortunately the style of the sea lodge rooms means that noise does carry but this was very, very loud.
Otherwise we had a lovely time and would definitely return.

We’re very pleased that you enjoyed the food and appreciated the way we manage dogs throughout the hotel. The “three barks and you’re out” rule has certainly become a useful one!
Thank you also for your comments about breakfast and the balance of the menus. We’ll take those on board, particularly your suggestion of another non-fish option.
I’m sorry about the noise from the room above you. The lodge buildings can unfortunately carry sound, particularly when guests are being exceptionally energetic! We don’t feel that putting up signs is the right solution, but we are always very happy to speak to guests if they are being disruptive. If you ever experience this again, please let us know at the time and we will always do our best to resolve it.

The most welcoming hotel in the loveliest place.
I treated my son and partner to a short stay after they got engaged and they did not want to leave!

First visit to this wonderful hotel.
Great food, lovely accommodation and fantastic views of the coastline. We were in one of the lodges which was spotlessly clean and had a great deck area to sit out.
The service in the restaurant was inconsistent at times and the wi-fi regularly ‘crashed out’. Whilst this did not detract from our overall experience, these factors need improving.
Great opportunity to visit the nearby gardens which were lovely.
Definitely worth a return visit.

I’m particularly surprised to hear about the Wi-Fi, as we have a very fast fibre-optic connection, so regular dropouts certainly aren’t what we would expect. We’ll investigate this to see what may have been happening during your stay.
