Ideal location for Chatsworth house but the room wasn't that clean.

My husband and i stayed for a few nights mid week, we were drawn by the fact it was part of the Chatsworth estate. We were impressed by the food, compliments to the chef.!
There was also a young chap called Sam who was very attentive. A few down points though.
There was no real reception or instruction on how or where to gain access to our room unless we waited at the bar for someone to help us.
A chap called Sam from behind the bar helped but this took him away from awaiting customers.
We found our room, our thoughts were it lacked any storage, just a bench to the side and 2 coat hangers on the wall. The biggest downfall was the huge accumilation of dust on the carpet at the top of the bed and on all the skirtings and ledges, i would have thought hoovering in such places is basic housekeeping . I feel if you are going to use the accreditation of being on the Chatsworth Estate then keep some basic standards for cleaning. The shower tray also leaked out onto the floor after every use which in turn made the lights flicker, not sure if this was connected but made me feel on edge with the electrics.
Overall this place could be top notch with a few tweaks. Regardless if its suppose to be a budget hotel it lacked the basic cleaning. The local area is beautiful, we took away many great memories.

Sunday dinner, tasted good but came on a tray too big for the table

Had Sunday dinner there today. It’s a bit too pricey for what it is but the meat was cooked perfectly and tender. We weren’t impressed by how it came though, on a heavy large tray, no serving spoons and the trays were so large that it covered our plates. Just was really unnecessary. If we’re paying for a meal, I expect it to come on a plate, plated up at the very least. I get it’s to be different or quirky but forget the trays, just have ordinary plates of food out.

What a difference a year makes.......unfortunately!!

We visited the Hide last year and had a super lunch with excellent food ,& service. Went again today expecting the same but immediately we walked in to a rather lukewarm welcome, given menus,told to find a table and then to cap it all.......order at the bar?!?! We had to change our original window table as it was infested with flies, we weren't offered table water despite there being glasses already on the table,we had to ask what the daily choices were and to traipse to the bar to order. One guy was already taking food & drink order the other guy when he was free said he would only take drinks orders?!?! We soon made him change his tune and reluctantly took the remainder of the order. We weren't offered a desert menu until we asked!! The food was ok,nothing special but the service....or rather lack of it made us feel uncomfortable and we certainly won't be recommending to friends or returning unless table service is resumed!!!!!
For the prices you're paying and like most other food pubs in Derbyshire table service is what you expect.
Needless to say NO TIP left!!!

The culinary equivalent of watching a Robbie Williams tribute act, who didn’t know the words.

The menu is a masterpiece of creative writing. It promises a fantastic meal, but unfortunately that’s where the excitement ends.
The food was so aggressively average it almost deserves an award. The burgers were no better than a Wetherspoons burger—except these came with the added bonus of a much higher price tag. The sharing platter must have been sharing the oven with next week’s specials because it was dry enough to qualify as shoe leather.
Then came the dough balls. They arrived burnt to a crisp on top, but rather than starting again, the chef had the genius idea of turning them upside down and smothering them in Parmesan, apparently hoping we’d all developed sudden-onset blindness. We pointed it out, and the replacements arrived almost raw. It’s reassuring to know they can get both extremes so consistently wrong.
Service was every bit as memorable as the food—which is to say, not at all. Some of the male staff looked like they’d wandered in halfway through decorating the house, and the attitude suggested we were inconveniencing them by being there.
For a Chatsworth-owned establishment, I expected quality. Instead, I got a meal no better than Wetherspoons, which has a place in society, but is priced to reflect that… this however is much less reasonably priced.

AVOID - misrepresentation of marketing

As their own reservations agent has told me: its our budget hotel - however it is not advertised in this way, leading to a very disappointing experience. We paid £440 for two nights.
It used to be a premier inn and now all it has is better branding and a lick of paint, but is much more expensive. The website makes it seem like you benefit from being associated with Chatsworth but this has zero benefits. You are 10mins drive from any facilities / kids playgrounds etc but website makes it seem like they are on your doorstep.
No facilities in the hotel (not even communal areas or outdoor areas).
Located on a main road.
Stuffy, very hot bedrooms with windows that only open a crack.
Overcooked very basic microwave food in sub par gastro pub (btw this is where you “check in” via iPad). Outside of the gastro pub operating hours there is no staff on site.
Checked in for two nights and departing after one. Would leave earlier if we had the effort for the onward drive.
