Great C2C resting place

Just stayed here when doing the coast to coast (C2C) walk. This place is an old farmhouse with lots of great character. It is superbly located, especially for anyone doing the C2C as it is just where the path enters Shap, it is close to the Co op for provisions, and within easy walking reach of the pubs and the fish and chip shop.
It has useful facilities including an alcohol licence, they can provide packed lunches, and they can provide evening meals, as well as a great breakfast. The hosts are really well organised, friendly, and helpful. The C2C section before Shap is arguably the hardest on the entire route and the hosts are geared up to people arriving late. Our room was massive and well furnished. We would definitely recommend this place for anyone on a walking holiday, especially if they are doing the C2C

Great place

I was hiking the coast to coast and camping this one day it had rained all day so I called the new ing lodge and they were so helpful had a spare room for the night. I got there and they were very welcoming and so friendly. They had stopped serving but still went out of their way to get me some homemade curry. Which was absolutely delicious may I add. The room was lovely,clean and comfortable and this was a great place to stay I highly recommend and would definitely come again.

Excellent overnight stop on coast to coast walk

Very friendly and welcoming staff, comfortable room, good food.
An overnight stop on coast to coast walk. We were able to have good home-cooked dinner here, also breakfast and get a packed lunch for the day ahead. All in all an ideal stopping point on our walk.

Great accommodation

Really lovely accommodation; the bed was very comfy, the breakfast was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Bohemian oasis.

My sister and I eventually reached Shap after one of the most gruelling days on the Coast to Coast.
The photos do not do justice to such a delightful haven for tired feet.
Andy, mine host was so welcoming and totally appreciates he’s receiving walkers off one of the more testing days.
A little bar is available on arrival and food is available if you can resist the famous Shap chippy.
