No free eggs?
Highly recommend Kinnaird Woodland Lodges. We stayed in the Ben y Vrackie – Dog Friendly Lodge and will 100% be back.
Communication was excellent. We received welcome emails beforehand and a WhatsApp message on the morning of arrival with the check-in process and access codes, which saved digging through emails to find the details.
The lodge was spotless but still very homely. It never felt like one of those places where you're worried about relaxing or making yourself at home.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, oven & hob, kettle, toaster and (most importantly) a Nespresso pod coffee machine. It genuinely has everything you’d need for a comfortable stay.
The bathroom has a large walk-in shower which was great for me. I’m 6ft 7 and often struggle with small hotel showers, but this one was spacious with no issues at all.
A small basket of logs is included for the log burner, which is enough for about one night. If you’re staying longer I’d recommend upgrading to the larger basket. If you’re not used to log burners it might also be worth quickly familiarising yourself with how they work.
The hot tub was one of the main reasons we booked and it didn’t disappoint. My girlfriend loved it (and wished she hadn't waited until the 2nd night to use it). It’s very straightforward to use, so even if you’ve never used one before it’s really easy.
The bed was nice and firm, which I personally prefer. There’s also plenty of storage with a large wardrobe and bedside drawers. A dog bed is provided too, as pets aren’t allowed on the furniture. Our 3-year-old Ridgeback normally sleeps on our bed at home but was perfectly happy on the bed provided beside the radiator.
There’s a Co-op about 5 minutes away by car, handy if you want to cook at the lodge or forgot anything. Just down the hill from there is Pitlochry’s main street, with plenty of places to eat, grab coffee and browse shops. There are also lots of things to do nearby like trail walks, sightseeing and even bungee jumping (if you’re braver than me!).
Overall it was a fantastic stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to friends or family.

50th birthday celebrations
We went down to Pitlochry to celebrate my wife’s 50th. We stayed in the Kinnaird lodges years ago and they are still excellent. When we arrive it my wife was instantly impressed with ballon’s, banner, chocolates and flowers for her. Lodge was spotless and had everything you needed. Hot tub was big enough for 4 which was perfectly hot all the time, even through storm Dave! For sure we will be back again

Truly fantastic Lodge
The Schiehallion Lodge at Kinnaird Woodland Lodges in Pitlochry is fantastic. It is in a great location with stunning views. The lodge is absolutely spotless throughout and has everything you will ever need and more. It feels so luxurious from the minute you walk in the door with the low lighting on and the table set. The hot tub is very clean and easy to use. We used it every day during our stay and the owners checked it every day. The log burner was fantastic. We used it every night and it was so relaxing with a warm cosy glow. Overall a truly fantastic place to stay and we can’t wait to go back. We would recommend this lodge to anyone, you won’t regret it.

You will have a wonderful time at Kinnaird Woodland Lodges
This is our second time to Kinnaird Woodland Lodges. It’s perfect! The lodge we’ve stayed at is beautiful, stylish, comfortable, quiet. The hot tub, which has been upgraded, is really lovely and the views from the hot tub are stunning. Pitlochry itself is a lovely village and there are loads of walks, cafes and interesting places to visit. The lodge has everything you could ever need for a self catering stay and it’s spotlessly clean. We hope to come back every year.

A Realistic And Honest Review
Let me critique this fairly. I'm going to go through the positives and negatives. I recommend reading the 5 star and the lower stars. I'll reiterate what has already been said by these lower star reviews, as we found them to be correct also, no matter the date of them or the owners at the time. The reason I write this is, I strongly feel this place is very misrepresented by the current owners. It is 100% NOT luxury nor a vision of a lodge or cabin. It is a basic/standard lodge.
We arrived to see the 'lodges' crammed together more like a caravan park. They looked very basic from the outside - more like a posh wooden caravan/trailer. Smaller than expected (Schiehallion 3) and the outside table and chairs in the photo were not there, just soaking Rattan furniture against the walls and no coverage if you're a smoker or enjoy coffee in the rain outside. A small awning would have been nice (It's Scotland!)
The interior was shabby with one coat of paint, wooden panels in dire need of a refurb, chipped wood panels outside, Sad dying outdoor plants in cheap pots, carpeted throughout (which makes you nervous to spill around the kitchen) minimal utensils/pots, no hoover, only a brush and pan, cheap lamps and furniture throughout with mono curtains, blinds, cheap bland canvas paintings, a plastic toilet seat that kept falling on your back, minimal generic toiletries, dirty greasy cutlery/pots, crumbs in drawer, dirty oven roasting grill put in squint with a piece of tinfoil shoved in, an old sock & unidentifiable black thing under the bed, dirty behind furniture & crumbs around kitchen carpet area, 2 fire lighters in a Tesco plastic box for a 3 night stay, two small logs and some kindling for complimentary kit and £15 for logs thereafter, a plastic water melon hearth brush, 3 packs of cards for entertainment, no books. And morning hot tub checks at 10 am right outside your bedroom window. A dodgy extension cable that produced a huge bang/flash that tripped the electrics which we got sorted and made them aware.
The view is not panoramic as described, but looking out on to, not only a road going up to a private property, but a Christmas tree farm with tractors and diggers going on ALL DAY until we heard them shout their goodbyes at 7PM. Not private at all for the hot tub. You expect tractors rurally but not outside your door all day with a full view of your butt. This is a fully functioning noisy business. It was like coffee on Leith Walk. I list these negatives not to be mean but to be honest. We took photos but they are pretty much the same as the other reviews so take a look at theirs.
Positives:
Views of the hills.
Great access to the town and hill walks.
Fantastic location for walks up Ben Vrackie.
Comfy, big firm bed.
Log burner heated entire place (It's big so only burn one side & open bedroom doors as owner's say - toasty)
Heating on AUTO was plenty if using fire.
Loads of hot water (we had no issue)
Sofas were comfy to lie out.
Peaceful after 7pm (Xmas tree season)
Communication and emails/directions - good.
The 5 star reviews are strange. Just read them. Anyone of sound mind knows this is not luxury nor even care! No thought or creativity has been put in to define this as 'luxury'. It's a tourist farm with draconian OCD rules and no class. Cost and effort have been skimmed on everything. It's like the Travelodge of log cabins but dirtier. Sadly it's a cash grab. I've paid less for a huge log house for the same nights with a big basket of free logs, a welcome pack full of eggs, milk, cheese, homemade jam on arrival, immaculate cleanliness, beautiful furniture/decor, etc! and no one checked the hot tub daily. THAT, my friend, is luxury and authenticity.
In the light of global financial instability, crippling taxes and inflation - these kinds of businesses are unlikely to last. Who will have money to throw away on a lie? It's symptomatic of cutting corners & the peasants' pockets suffer - just like your coffee is twice the price for less but inside a big bag to fool you. This place just needs to be advertised honestly!

The Christmas tree field referenced in your review is embraced by the lodges and is described on our website. We also make it explicit prior to booking that seasonal harvesting takes place in November and that chainsaws may be heard during this time. That is part of working farm and not an unexpected activity.
Our hot tub checks are carried out once daily, in line with Scottish health and safety regulations. These checks are brief, discreet, and guests are informed of this process in advance. Any genuine concerns raised during a stay are addressed promptly, however nothing was mention during your stay - the opposite.
We welcome constructive feedback and continually review suggestions; however, this review is very much an outlier when compared with other reviews received across all platforms. We encourage prospective guests to read a range of feedback to gain an accurate picture of what we offer.
