Great location for SOAT but a bit tired & dated.
Welcome was very loud and brusque. Seemed put out that I didn’t want a drink of tea or coffee and asked me twice. Asked whether my partner would want one. They should have been aware I’m a solo visitor. This would be tactless if someone was recently bereaved.
Next thing I was rushed through the breakfast choices for the following morning. Felt like being interrogated!!
The room was slightly cramped for a double with very little room between the bottom of the bed and wall. Windows were dirty and the slatted blinds a bit dusty. There are no curtains so I realised light would be coming in early. The room was bathed in light by 5.30. I recommend an eye mask if you can’t sleep with light coming in.
The en-suite is tiny. The overhead light is pathetic and not much help. The light over the mirror did not work. The Booking.com listing states toiletries supplied. This consisted of a bottle of handwash. As it is such a small space the sink is only suitable for a mouse. No shelf for your toiletries but a few screws in the tiles perhaps where a mug holder or some such used to be. I finally got some hot water from the sink tap on my final morning. Mirror has seen better days. Shower was adequate but water went cold on final morning so I couldn’t wash my hair.
Plenty of hangers in the wardrobe. Bottled water provided as you can’t get the kettle under a tap.
Bed was comfy and good bedding.
I had a basic breakfast as I don’t often eat before 10 and breakfast is served between 8-9. Cereal and toast and coffee. Orange juice provided that I did order or want. Breakfast room is a bit dark.
Overall it’s a bit tired and dated. Furniture is marked and well worn.
There are plenty of people who love the place so I’m sure I am in the minority in finding it not for me. I don’t imagine Laurence will lose any sleep over a critical review.

Wonderfully warm and welcoming
Thank you Lawrence and Thina for your wonderful warm hospitality.
Our bedroom was big and airy with a great view over the park.
The bed was very comfortable.
The whole place was very clean and cosy.
The breakfasts were exceptional with plenty of choices to suit every taste
