Stayed at the Lochgreen House Hotel for my cousins wedding and it was beautiful!
We had a slight issue with our room position when we checked in, but the reception staff were very quick to offer us an alternative. The staff during the wedding were exceptional, all so so friendly, really attentive, I would say the best wait/bar staff I’ve experienced at an event that size.
Special shout out to Ivor, we spoke on the phone a few days prior to our stay, and you were even more wonderful in person. Such a warm, kind, caring soul and a huge asset to this establishment.

Top notch hotel
This beautiful hotel set in amazingly kept grounds, overlooks Troon golf course. In brief, it was a joy and pleasure to stay there. The staff were all excellent and should be commended. I felt Lyn at breakfast time deserved a special mention but the reception staff were also especially good. Rooms were huge, clean and very impressive. Food was excellent and the wine selection was adequate. I really struggled to find fault. There were very small signs of wear on the carpet of a main staircase but this is a real nitpick. I would highly recommend this hotel despite the relatively high rates. Also be aware it is often used by parties of USA Golfers who have no volume control.

Great visit
First visit to this hotel , wanted a one night stay before catching the ferry to Arran. Beautiful hotel, immaculate gardens . Gorgeous interior spaces . We were given a fantastic bedroom overlooking the golf course to distant sea view . So beautiful and a real treat ! Great breakfast next morning , speedy service I had the eggs benedict and my husband had the full Scottish . Everything was brilliant . If we travel to this area again we will stay here

Tlc required at Lochgreen
My husband and I decided to do an overnight stay at the Lochgreen House Hotel. We had booked to go away to Majorca two days later due to work constraints. We booked in and they asked us if it was a special occasion. I confirmed it was my husband’s birthday and one girl just said “oh nice” but the other wished him a happy birthday.
The hotel looks quite old and a bit in need of tlc. Our room carpet had a lot of Irn Bru like looking stains and black ones too.
The room was generous in size with a massive bathroom but it was really cold even though the towel rail was on full heat.
We opened the wardrobe to find one robe for a two person stay. There was one packet of biscuits too which for the price of the stay was under whelming.
On entering the hotel my husband tried to book a sauna but was told it was fully booked both days which was another disappointment.
Thankfully the staff at dinner were more customer focused. We were served by a lovely young lady with blonde hair (sorry I didn’t get her name) but she was engaging, warm & friendly. I have given a three because she took my rating higher with her service.
We had a great view and were pleased with the room but it was a rainy day so we didn’t walk the stunning gardens. Instead we watched and listened to the noisy Ryanair constant flights land and take off. The hotel glazing did not drown the sound out so our relaxing break was not so relaxing with flights every few minutes.
Normally if a hotel of this calibre knows it’s a celebration they make a small effort such as a candle put on a dessert or some sort of recognition. There was nothing which was disappointing.
Had it not been for the talented garden team and the girl in the restaurant my score would have been one instead of the generous three I gave.
If the staff can’t see and get a carpet cleaner and give the room the tlc needed it detracts from your stay.
The corridors are filled with plastic plants and tacky paintings with a bad mixture of ornaments. I doubt it’s had an update for many years.
I could not recommend a stay here as there are much better options in Ayrshire.

Superb Experience
Fantastic experience from the minute we walked in the front door until the minute we left.
Staff were superb, attention to detail was superb.
Food excellent, wine excellent, restaurant manager was definitely 5* and he managed his team to his very high standards. Menu changes were not a problem at all.
Decor is fab, it's just such a nice place.
Would definitely recommend, we've been 3 times, and will be back again, at least once a month.
