Incredible sea side hotel.
Stayed at the Smiths on the 17-19th July, arrived early and the rooms were ready, the staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, the room was good, comfy bed, good bathroom and shower facilities, tidy and very clean. Good bar facilities and great range of drinks(the crispiest, fresh pint of Thatcher’s Gold I’ve had in a long while (this bar managers knows how to look after pipes)), once again the staff were amazing, we went off for a walk around the town and came back for an evening meal. This hotel is right on the front with good views. We both had the fish and chips and I have to say it was by far the best ever. Really thick well cooked moist fish and the most incredible batter, crispy, crunchy, tasty and no soggy bits underneath. If you don’t try this you are missing a trick. Michelin star without the price tag. Once again I’ll say the staff are absolutely incredible. 10/10 A++++.

Gem on the sea front.
I stayed at the hotel with my friend on a crosskeys coach holiday. I was a little worried as I am a coeliac plus vegetarian so emailed the hotel before my trip to let them know my dietary requirements. Had an email from Tina who assured me all would be ok.
We had single rooms with fantastic sea views which was a bonus! The hotel is in the perfect location close to the pier and within a short walk of town.
I am very limited to what I can eat but the chef made sure all my meals were safe and tasty. A lovely young man assured me that a separate GF toaster would make breakfast safe even before I had asked ( usually I find that this is often overlooked) . Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.
Don’t always believe bad reviews as we had a lovely stay.

A Perfect Stay!
I went for a four-night stay at Smiths Hotel with a friend; we were part of a coach group. It was entirely successful and pleasant, as well as good value for money. The hotel is well furnished and equipped and the staff are efficient, polite and friendly. The included breakfast and evening meal were served as planned for the group and provided generous portions with a good menu choice. I had a single room which although small has all mod cons (including a fan which I used as the weather was hot!) and a comfortable bed. Last but not least the room has a truly spectacular view over the beach and seafront. The hotel is not far from the pier and it’s an easy walk into the nice town.

No complaints here
This hotel was a bit dated but very clean and the bedrooms were ok .
I was with a shearings coach holiday so we all had our meals together in a separate dining area . The staff were friendly and very helpful. The meals were good and there was a reasonable menu . The main hotel menu was lots better but I don't think we could have that as we were a coach party. Evening entertainment was ok . Seafront location was good .

Two tier dining
We visited this hotel on a coach holiday for four nights. The room was clean and had a balcony and seaview. The shower room was very small and the seals on the shower door were black with mould. The fan made a noise like a helicopter taking off and the door into the shower room stuck and needed to be tugged to open it. The food served to coach parties is second rate to the food served to private guests and bears no resemblance to the food shown on the hotel website. The coach party dining room is drab and airless, although the serving staff were very nice and helpful,but one morning only the manager turned up and she had to serve everyone on her own. The cooked breakfast was quite good but the way you got cereal fruit and yoghurt etc was strange as it had to be ordered at dinner the night before. The food at dinner was very poor and there was a very limited choice. The drinks at the bar were very expensive and the entertainment was poor, just singers singing songs that they liked not to suit the audience. The noise from boy racers on the street and shouting and screaming from the outside area until early hours was appalling and kept us awake.We will not be returning.Very disappointed.
