The property and the ambience is lovely. The view from the restaurant garden is very pleasant and beautiful. The room size, bathroom size and amenities were good. We faced 1 major problem to be precise which made us a bit sore.
Cleanliness - the room was clean except for the carpet. It didn’t feel like it was vacuumed. There was probably a pet staying in that room before us and there was a lot of hair on the carpet. I understand it is a pet friendly property and I have absolutely no problem with that. But cleaning the room properly before the next checkin is a basic expectation. We couldn’t step on the floor without our feet being covered with hair.
Apart from that, everything else was very good. Breakfast was also good and the customer service was very polite and hospitable as well.

Lovely traditional hotel in extensive grounds. Very dog friendly. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

A beautiful property. Everything is very clean and location very good. Service staff also very friendly, makes you come back and order more. We took a bigger room as had luggage for comfort. Everything went well. Very close to a hike trail with nice top views of Windermere lake

Although this property was clean and presented well, I was disappointed after paying nearly $300 that there where no toiletries other that pump soap and no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Also the room was so hot as was the hotel itself. One plus the pool was clean and well kept. Room service was poor.

Terrible

We stayed in the superior room in the Annex. Paid £189 a night, bath, sink and bed were clean but the window sills in the bathroom were filthy , there was cobwebs all over the walls. I asked for them to be cleaned on our first night. Was told someone would go down to clean. They were still there when we went to bed. Next morning I asked again and was told very rudely that housekeeping doesn’t come in until ten o’clock. They shouldn’t of been there in the first place !! I asked again on the afternoon then again on the night. The big one was removed but there were still lots of little ones all over the wall. The carpet in between the bathroom and bedroom was lifted from the runner. Big trip hazard. The whole room needed decorating. Scratches and scrapes all over the walls. Wardrobe door was broken. Superior room was an absolute joke. When we went for breakfast on the first morning there were no tables set. All tables were in a long row like a cafe. This was off the night before as there was a farmers convention of 50 people which we were told because of this we couldn’t eat after 7 o’clock. £189 a night and told I couldn’t eat after 7. This happened the three night we were there. Back to breakfast. We found a table and asked for cutlery. I put two full cups of tea next to our cutlery and we both went for our breakfast. When we got back the cups and cutlery had been taken away. The waiter said he didn’t think anyone was sitting there so he cleared them away. Full cups next to cutlery I thought was a clue. No offer to replace our cups and no apology. So my breakfast was now getting cold as I had to replenish our cups. The whole experience was terrible. Never been to a hotel that has service like that. We weren’t shown to a table and asked for our room number to actually prove we were booked in. The staff wore polo shirts and leggings. Wasn’t sure if they were waitresses or cleaners. The food was okay nothing special , would of liked an option of eggs not just scrambled. The building itself is beautiful but it didn’t have the atmosphere of a lovely old house. I think the girl on the desk regretted asking us if everything had been okay when we checked out. We told her we felt like second class citizens and the farmers came before us even though we paid nearly £600. She did speak to the manager who was in the back room. He wouldn’t come out to speak to us.He told her to knock off our drinks bill. £76 as a gesture of good will!! Would I stay here again ? Absolutely not. The only saving grace was , we were blessed with lovely weather and able to do lots of sightseeing.
