Excellent stay in Alba
We spent a night in this B&B which also houses one of Alba's famous restaurants (closed on Sunday, so we didn't dine here but only stayed there). Communication from the booking to arrival was clear and helpful, including where to park. A friendly young girl checked us in, providing detailed instructions and suggestions with a map and we met the affable lady owner when checking out. Rooms are very comfortable and quiet, and well located just outside the centre, a shot walk from Piazza Michelle Ferrero, with everything easily accessible on foot. A very good (and sensibly priced) option for staying in Alba.

Restuarant Review Only
This is a small hotel establishment with a restaurant. We only used the restaurant facilities. There was an unpromising entrance, through what seemed to be the family dining area with a TV and a little bar [and a pile of dirty plates on the table!], down a dimly-lit corridor, and then into an open-air courtyard, where the restaurant tables are located. We chose 'mixed cold garden vegetables' as antipasto; this was a complete disappoinment, as the vegetables consisted of no more than a tablespoon of chopped tomatoes, onions and (maybe) carrots, but then topped with a quartered bolied egg and a spoonful of tinned tuna. So, straight away we found the menu was misleading and that tinned produce formed part of the kitchen's inventory. A tagliatelle with veal ragu was tasty, a local grey rabbit was well cooked and full of flavour. The desserts were good and nicely presented. There is a comprehensive wine list with a lot of top end choices - too top heavy for a basic restaurant like this one, in my view.
On asking for the bill we were directed back out to the family room and bar, where Madame kindly offered us a digestivo while the bill was prepared. I am sorry to say that the 'bill' was simply worked out on a calculator, and we were just presented with a total. [82 Euros for 2]. Personally, and I think this applies to most diners, I like to see an itemised bill. I have been to places before, where you are 'charmed' upon leaving with a little drink, and then just quoted a 'total price'. In my view this is not good restaurant practice.
Overall, the food and service was acceptable and pleasant, but no more than standard for a town of Alba's size and gourmet reputation.

Hello Mr Peter,
The house is an historical house (300 years old more or less) so when I made restructuration I could not make big changement because of the historical place I had to use as she was in the original.
In the family dining area there are same customers that eats in my restaurant every day and they wants to watch tv sorry for dirty plates.
Actually we eat 9 months a year downstairs where there is the old cellar I am sorry that I didn't show you.
The Giardiniera is not my invention but a very old and typical receipt made with 9 different vegetables and it's quite long method to make it. I serve very typical tasting Piedmont dishes, menu alla carta and the proposal of the day and for everything the price is clear the same for wine list and also the wine by glass the price is written.
When customer come to pay I always read with them what they ordered. It's very important this thing for me especially for foreigners people because when I am in foreigner country I do appreciate that people make this to me. I did the same with your wife (if I remember well, ask to her) and when you 'll arrive (you'll arrive bit later) I just told you the total.

Clean and Comfortable
A very nice hotel in a great location, close to city center. I have stayed in all of the hotels in the downtown Alba area and this is one of the best. Comfortable rooms, free WiFi, and a very nice restaurant, as well. I will definitely be back.

A taste of Alba
Anna took our reservation and waited on us. We had a four course sampler of Alba’s specialties including antipasto, pasta, main course and desserts along with Alba area wines paired to the plates. Just perfect! We couldn’t have selected a better restaurant or meal than this. We came home with leftover wine braised veal and salad. Great location right off of the main shopping/promenade area. Outstanding food, prompt and attentive service, and very nice atmosphere.

What an evening!
Me and my wife stayed here and had dinner in the restaurant with some friends. We arrived late, but marissa kept the restaurant open for us. We had a tasting platter for starter. Ravioli with rabbit as pasta dish. Beef in barolo sauce. and a delicious hazelnut cake with muscato custard for dessert. Everything was made with love and tender care. We were served a smooth barbera and a nebbiolo that paired the food brilliant.Thanx marissa for a fantastic stay and evening !
