An authentic excellence of the Amalfi Coast

There are places that manage to leave a special memory not only for their beauty but especially for the way they make you feel welcomed. The Santa Caterina in Amalfi is exactly this.
A magnificent hotel, suspended between timeless elegance, breathtaking views, and that rare authenticity that truly makes a difference today. Every detail is taken care of with extreme attention, yet always with naturalness and warmth, never appearing forced.
The service was impeccable in every aspect: a special thanks to the Concierge team, always present with a smile, courtesy, and an extraordinary ability to find solutions to any request or need. A truly high level of hospitality.
The experience at the Al Mare restaurant was also wonderful: refined cuisine deeply connected to the territory, excellent raw materials, a unique atmosphere by the sea, and elegant, attentive service.
A special mention also goes to the new rooftop restaurant Senzafine, a truly surprising project that elegantly combines Mediterranean cuisine with Japanese technique, featuring a grill, sushi bar, and a spectacular terrace suspended over the sea. A place with an extremely elegant and contemporary design, where every detail, from the cocktails to the cuisine, to the incredible view of the city of Amalfi, contributes to creating a unique and memorable experience.
I also greatly appreciated the practical approach to sustainability, intelligently and discreetly integrated into the hotel experience: from the responsible reuse of towels and linens to the choice to recover opened but unfinished amenities, avoiding unnecessary waste. Small gestures that reflect great sensitivity and attention.
The Santa Caterina is not simply an iconic hotel of the Amalfi Coast: it is a place capable of providing an authentic, elegant, and deeply memorable experience.
I can't wait to return.

This hotel is exceptionally beautiful. Even though it is in a town, it is like a vertical resort as it is on many levels going down to the sea. We enjoyed every day walking down along the path through the terraced levels down to the pool. You pass through a stunning lemon grove along with way. Only take the lift if you have to! There are also so many gorgeous spots and gardens to lounge and have a drink. The food and service at all then restaurants is outstanding. My husband is vegan and was grateful how well he was accommodated.

For 23 years, Hotel Santa Caterina has been far more than a place I stay — it has become a part of my life. The moment you arrive, you feel the warmth of a team who redefine hospitality. Their attention to detail is unmatched, their kindness is genuine, and their commitment to excellence is effortless.
The rooms are beautifully decorated, blending classic Amalfi charm with refined luxury. Every space feels curated, every view feels like a private masterpiece.
This hotel is not simply a holiday destination. It is an experience in pure luxury, delivered by the best staff in the world. Santa Caterina is where memories are made, restored, and cherished — and after 23 years, it still feels like coming home.

Simply the best hotel we have ever stayed in

Apologies for this late review, but we stayed in April 2025 and didn't get round to writing until now :-/
In a word, this hotel is excellent. If we could give it more than 5* we would, it's that good. The hotel is simply beautiful. We are very observant, in many hotels, of minor issues like worn or stained seating or bedding etc. In a four day trip we could not once find any fault, not one! This in itself is, frankly, unbelievable.
Then you get onto the service, which is outstanding. Eating in the Glicine restaurant was an absolute joy. Having a pizza in the bar area we were treated as king and queen; breakfast ditto - I mean they even have little stools for handbags to keep them off the floor (obvs said stools are immaculately clean - always!).
Sadly the weather was not fantastic whilst we were here so didn't get to enjoy the area around the sea, but the walk through the lemon grove ... wow.
We could go on and on - but as the review title suggests this is simply the best hotel we have ever encountered. If you get the opportunity to visit Amalfi and can stay here - DO :-)
