We were in Italy to attend a wedding and we couldn’t have picked a better location and place to stay. We stayed for 6 days at the il Viaio and loved ever minute of our stay. We were welcomed by the lovely Grace, who went out of her way to help us allocate a hair dresser and organise taxis for us. she is a bundle of joy with a lovely can do personality and very professional. She goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcomed and enjoy their stay in Florence.
The house is located in middle of beautiful olive groves with a pool to cool off in on hot summer days. I highly recommend it also for people who love hiking as we enjoyed our daily walks. It’s heaven surrounded by nature and birds but with easy access to the sights and restaurants. The meals we had were yummy and they stock a lot of local produce which were worth every penny:
I will definitely be visiting again with my family and friends. I highly recommend il Viaio, and am so grateful to Grace and her family for making us feel so welcomed and at home.

The street on the way there is bad for the wheels, be careful

1. If you are a nervous driver, or you have a big car, long car, or old car with old tires, i will not consider picking this place. The way, the ground, the street on the way here is too steep, not wide enough for 2 cars, and bad for wheels.
But i saw other tourist going there on foot. They probably park their cars somewhere below, but i find it hard to walk there on foot with bagages, too steep for me.
2. The place is proper, clean, not so many insects in the pool self, but of course u can expect bees/wasp flying around the pool area so best to put ur slipper on when walking there.
3. They have a lil playground for the kids
4. When swimming it is required to put swimming cap on unless you are bald of course. They sell swimming cap for 3euros
5. The room is big enough for 2 adults and 1 5yo. But not soundproof enough to have a good night sleep. You can hear the main door closing and opening, the people walking to the stairs...
6. The aircon is in bad location imo, it blast directly into your face. It can get a bit chilly at night, and it doesnt have a remote control so you need to get up to adjust it.
7. They dont clean your room once u are there, but if you want it to get clean or to have a new towel, there is a charge fee of 15 euros.
8. No breakfast included but the host is helpful enough, she gave suggestions where we can eat.
9. No mosquitoes! Thank God!

Ideal base for a visit to Florence

Grace is a very friendly hostess. She gave us good tips about the area and is easy to deal with. As described in previous reviews, the bus stop is 1km away. We thought we would walk this for a while, but it was mainly a tough hike. The next day we went down by car!
The room was clean and equipped with a small refrigerator. Ideal for keeping some drinks cold. For breakfast you could choose a savory or sweet option. Both were very tasty!
The surroundings were beautiful and didn't give you the impression that you were so close to Florence!

A lovely stay out of the City but great for exploring Florence.

We had a lovely 2 night stay, it met with all our expectations considering the price and description when booking. Grace was a lovely host, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean & with air conditioning. Just 1 km down the road was the bus station which is the best mode of transport for getting into Florence, you can walk down the hill, or drive to the bus stop ( free parking ), It takes approx 30mins into the centre of Florence & the bus runs every 15mins. A great stay and would return…
