Charming, 'idyllic' location for exploring. Within walking minutes of historical sites. Lobby/reception area was unexpectedly smaller than photos on line, but manageable. Would not recommend pre-paying for breakfast ($18 euro pp/pn), due to short operating hours. We missed the first morning (our fault) due to jet lag; and last day due to an early departure before restaurant opened. The hotel staff were kind enough to provide us with a continental bagged breakfast (after requested). Be cautious and verify cost of hotel shuttle to airport with driver. The hotel brochure lists one way to FCO airport for 1-3 persons as $80 (euro). Upon arrival to airport, driver charged $110 (euro)! Overall, staff were accommodating and had a very nice stay. PS: The bar/lounge on upper floor of hotel was delightful! Bartender, ambience and price were great.

Excelent

We had an amazing experience at this hotel! We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from a standard room to a beautiful suite at no extra cost, which made our stay even more special.
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the hotel itself was lovely, clean, and well maintained. Everything was perfect from start to finish.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Our first trip to Rome. Good location. Loved the breakfast buffet. Rooms were average. We had a 5th floor room in July. It never truly got cool in the summer.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

Having stayed at Hotel 55 before, I returned with high expectations and had even recommended it to friends. Sadly, this visit was a real disappointment.
The hotel accommodated our request for an early check-in after only a short wait, but charged €40 for the privilege, which they did advised us about. We also requested a late check-out until 2:30 p.m. and were quoted €80.
The biggest issue arose on our final day when the internet on our floor stopped working. Although staff tried to resolve the problem, it remained unavailable up to our checking out the next morning. I felt that, under the circumstances, waiving the late check-out fee would have been a reasonable gesture of goodwill. Instead, the hotel reduced the charge to €40 but still insisted on payment.
The lift is old, tiny and frequently unavailable, often resulting in long waits, and our room was much smaller than expected.
What disappointed me most was not the technical problem itself but the lack of flexibility in dealing with a returning guest who had previously recommended the hotel. Customer service is judged by how issues are handled, and in this case I felt let down.
Unfortunately, I will not be returning and can no longer recommend Hotel 55.

Perfect spot for a couple's weekend

There are an infinite amount of hotels and b&bs in Rome and luckily we booked this place. The room was wonderful, we even got lucky and had the only balcony room the hotel has. The room was cleaned everyday and the hotel staff were delightful. The hotel staff spoke English which makes things easier (really appreciate this as us English should really make more effort with our languages). The hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of many good shops, bars and restaurants and walking distance to all the major attractions. We will certainly come back to this hotel when we revisit Rome. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.
