An oasis of calm, coolness & welcome.

I traveled with my partner and young adult sons. We’d booked the deluxe rooms and they overlooked the courtyard; it was always calm and peaceful. The hotel is a little bit quirky (one lift to the first floor and a smaller lift to higher floors) and the rooms are individual, beautifully decorated and the air conditioning was quiet and effective. It was lovely to lie in the bed after a busy day in Rome and relax before going out to enjoy the evening. The room sizes were not an issue for us, I unpacked and my partner lived out of his suitcase and there was plenty of room.
Breakfast was great, lots of choice and always plentiful, even towards the end of service.
The bar area is beautiful and we had THE best Aperol spritz of any we had in Rome…we tested extensively.
All the staff without exception were friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The location is fantastic…close to the metro, tram and bus stop. Across the road from Piazza del Popolo and the city awaits… You can see the Flaminio obelisk from quite a distance, so it was always easy to navigate home. We bought a weekly travel pass and zipped about. The buses and metro are good.
We would return to River Palace in a heartbeat…Thank you so much for having us.

Vile and filthy puts it mildly

We had a wonderful Italian vacation marred by our final stay at the River Palace Hotel. Where can I start? Well, it went down hill fast when we were assigned to a room accessible only by taking an elevator up one flight and then taking a side staircase up 3 flights (yes, no elevator). Although we booked and paid for a deluxe double room, the room measured approximately 150 square feet only. Then, things got bad. The bed consisted of a hard foam mattress with extremely flat and hard pillows. The rugs were stained very badly. There was no comforter or quilt on the bed, but there was a comforter in an armoire. When I pulled out the comforter, it was stained with what looked like dried blood. Now, for the kicker, there were glass patio doors in the bathroom with only very sheer curtains. To cover the bathroom from being visible from the opposite building, I grabbed the bathrobes to cover the patio doors. Oh, the bathrobes were covered in body hair. Let me also mention that the towels in the bathroom had been used and were still wet. There were no other rooms available. We stayed only one night and made our escape early in the morning. The hotel was a filthy disgrace.

The hotel was well situated and subway and walking attractions were easy to get to. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Upon booking pay attention to which room you choose. Our room size was very small and the bathroom is about the size of an airplane bathroom. The property can upgrade you for an extra fee.

The place is very accessible both to the tram and Metro. Perfect walking distance to the shops and restaurants. The staffs are very helpful especially Greta while we were checking in. Even offered a restaurant that is good near the hotel . Breakfast was so excellent especially sitting in their veranda. The aircon was so cold yet helpful especially when you are coming from outside so helpful.

Beautiful hotel in the most convenient location! Can just jump on the metro to get most anywhere you want in Rome or easily walk. The space for your stay is quite small. This is to be expected in a busy city in Europe, but be prepared for close quarters. The staff were incredibly helpful our entire stay and the bar tender made some of the best drinks we’ve had!
