The second time around!

Recently I went back to Italy, and one more time my choice to stay at a Hotel was Cristina. Beside the beauty that surround the hotel, I like the tranquility, cleanliness, the food and the owners. Each member of the family has a quality that make the hotel unique. Cristina who is one of the owner, she also prepares the food. Her excellence way of cooking the meals, make any one wants more and licks the plate. Don Oliviero the other owner also cook. He is in charge of the grilling. When he is doing so, one can smell the savory of the grilling miles away. Federico is the bartender, but his best skill is making one heck of expresso. I had so many that when I came back to the states, I was hooked on expressos just to remember the taste. Michael! or better put "the best pizza maker of San Rocco di Piegara". He makes such a delicious pizza pie that eating one is not enough. While staying at the Hotel, I noticed that their customers dont take out one pizza pie at a time, but 8 to 10 pizza pies to take home.
I definitely recommend this hotel if anyone is looking for peace and quiet, great food,cleanliness and most important excellent service from the staff. This hotel deserves more than 2 stars. The location is wonderful, and the staff is superb.

Rudeness, flies, and heat....

07/26/10: We arrived today from Romagna, after a nice week of vacation, and I had booked a room for four people (myself, my wife, our daughter, and son-in-law) for two nights. First of all, since there was no air conditioning, and having suffered a lot from the heat, my son-in-law thought he would take a shower. Tiny shower tray, a kind of makeshift curtain, the whole floor gets wet, with a risk of slipping. I went down to ask, with the utmost politeness, for a mop and a bucket, saying literally "unfortunately the boy got the floor a bit wet while taking a shower, if you could kindly give me a mop to dry it," the owner's response (I think the father of the gentleman who received us upon arrival...) literally in front of two hotel employees and other guests, exclaimed in a loud voice in a rude manner, "eh, if the boy is A$$-H0L3....". I, like the two employees and the others present, remained stunned.... I went back up without a word.... It ended with one of the two employees, visibly embarrassed, coming up to bring us the mop with a bucket and (at my request) a fan, since the facility doesn't even provide that in the rooms.... in this heat.... I have already booked another hotel in the Verona area, tomorrow morning 07/11/26 we are leaving Hotel Cristina (losing one night, since I had paid at the time of booking...) with the bitterness of someone who, paying and not a small amount, was treated with unheard-of and, above all, undeserved rudeness, considering that we are a decent family and honest, polite people, we are.... Honestly, if the unfortunate epithet had been directed at my wife or daughter, instead of my son-in-law, I probably would have taught this great "gentleman" a little manners myself... We did not come to Veneto to be insulted, and in over 30 years of traveling and vacationing around Italy and the world, I had never had such a thing happen to me.... Not even in the youth hostels I frequented as a kid, where at least they had fans...

Good choice if You are by car

The hotel is on the hills, about 20 km from Verona.
Nice rooms, great pizza.
Good value for money.

Eenvoudig hotel nabij historisch centrum

Eenvoudig hotel met drie sterren. Goede bedden, schoon sanitair. Eenvoudig ontbijt, maar wel met vers fruit en brood, cereals, koffie, thee, enz.
Kamers niet al te groot, maar voldoende voor degene die hele dag op pad is. Voor drie nachten een prima uitvalsbasis om historische centrum van Vicenza te verkennen.

Tutto ok

Cucina molto buona , piatti alla griglia e dolci fatti in casa davvero ottimi, nel complesso la struttura è bella e familiare , potessi restare ancora lo farei ,complimenti e sicuramente torneremo. Grazie dell’accoglienza.
