Great Skiing Hotel in Sestriere

We have just a very enjoyable week staying at the Hotel Sud Ovest for a skiing holiday. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming, and very helpful. There was quite a variety of rooms of differing shapes and sizes, but the facilities were good and the beds comfortable. We had a party of 9 (3 families) and as the hotel was generally quite quiet we were able to make good use of the lounge, which made a big difference for our group in the evening before and after dinner and gave the place a bit of a ski chalet feel (we had afternoon tea and cake there on returning from the slopes). The food was excellent, we ordered in the morning for the evening meal which had a choice of 2/3 starters, mains and puddings and the Gluten Free and vegetarian requirements in our party were carefully catered for. The evening food was generally excellent, with a good local wine list. Breakfast was a typical Italian buffet with plenty of options. It was about 15 minute walk from the hotel to our ski hire shop next to the ski school and main slopes, and we kept our skis & boots there, which worked out well. There was also the option of a ski room at the hotel. Despite it being the last week of the ski season we were lucky with the snow (a 40cm dump on the Sunday we arrived) so had a great week of skiing with very quiet slopes except for our first day which was Easter Monday and a bit busier in the morning. So to conclude we would thoroughly recommend the Hotel Sud Ovest if you are going to Sestriere.

Simple old-fashioned and tasty food

Basic hotel about 15-20 min walk from lifts and piste. Very simply furnished rooms, poorly equipped with eu standard electrical outlets. The room was clean and comfortable. Nice lounge to relax in. Good food in classic Italian style. You get to choose from a few options at breakfast and then dinner is served from 7.30pm. Feels pretty old fashioned but nice. Quite ok option but rooms could be updated to 2025 standard. The beds were made with sheets and blanket. Free Wi-Fi in the hotel which worked well. Good breakfast!

I wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend it

small rooms and some without bidets, in 2024 it seems like a big lack to me, not even a shower present. This lack had to be made clear in the booking.
Average but poor quality dinner, no buffet present, and when asked for some salad the answer was NO

absolutely normal

well, I'm always disturbed by hotels where dogs pee on the carpet instead of washing it... to hide the smell they gave lavender spray as if there was a tomorrow!!! having to
asking for a change of towels after 5 days... seems a bit exaggerated to me!
normal breakfast!
good cleanliness of common areas... the rooms are a little less clean even if they are spacious with comfortable beds.
2 adults and 2 children €200 per night.
