farmhouse in the pine forest
the structure is very nice, the classic Salento farmhouse, but immersed in a beautiful pine forest.
the pool was overrun by wasps, but it must have been a one-time occurrence…
the rooms are a bit cramped, but livable.
the affiliated beach is organized and clean, the stunning sea does the rest.
the breakfast is excellent, the dinner still needs improvement.
the dining staff is perfect, however, the reception staff are certainly not facilitators; every response was almost a no.
there is ample room for improvement…

Stay in a Masseria
We stayed in a masseria for about ten days. Its location is convenient to the sea and very private. The staff were courteous, and the food was excellent. The cleanliness of the common areas could be improved. Relaxing and informal environment.

Idyllic spot!
We're just returned from a wonderful week at Masseria Fontanelle. I can only echo what the previous reviewer has written.
From start to finish we were bowled over by the beauty and tranquillity of the Masseria. Although the hotel was full, there was always a sense of calm and relaxation and there were so many quiet spots from which to admire the wonderful views.
The food was fantastic and the chef made excellent use of all the local produce. We particularly enjoyed the antipasti buffet to start the meal which was so tasty and varied and also the fish banquet once a week and the weekly Saletino buffet!
The absolute highlight though had to be the brilliant staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Particularly thanks to Beatrice, Sara, Simone although all were brilliant.
The beach as mentioned by other reviewers is not to be missed with white sand and azure water.
All in all the Masseria is a happy and beautiful spot and we would not hesitate to return.
We enjoyed trips to Gallipoli, Lecce and Santa Maria da Leuca when we could drag ourselves away from the Masseria!

Absolutely wonderful stay!
We booked a week here after reading a rave review in The Guardian newspaper and our experience completely exceeded our expectations. As others have said, the setting is stunning and the hotel is everything you could possibly want for a peaceful, relaxing break from reality. The restaurant is lovely too - delicious breakfast buffets - and served dinners with everything fresh, regional and locally sourced. And the staff are uniformly excellent - warm, friendly and charming - nothing is too much trouble. The beach is also fantastic - white sand and clear blue sea - with easy shuttles to and from the site. The restaurant at the Beach Club was also wonderful - very simple but again with local food and charming service. And being to book front row loungers for our stay was a real bonus. I cannot recommend the Masseria Fontanelle highly enough and we will definitely be back!

Fantastic hotel
My daughter and son in law held their wedding weekend here at the end of May. It is a beautiful venue that offers the most spectacular sunset views . We stayed in a room in the older part of the building which was full of character. Every single member of staff was amazing, even under the pressure of serving a large number of people. Always smiling and happy to help. The food was great, breakfasts offered a good range of fruits, pastries, cereals, meats and eggs etc. Everywhere was clean and well looked after. Having real withdrawal symptoms and would love to go back.
