strategic location
Family holiday two adults and one teenager in half board at the end of August/beginning of September. The main reason I chose this hotel and would do it again in the future is because of its location at the bottom of the valley. Park your car and walk to the main hiking sites in the area: refuge Vittorio Emanuele II, Rolley Cross, Nivolet Hill, for the more daring the Grand Etret glacier. Just go down a few kilometers to take the path that leads to the Federico Chabod refuge, for the more experienced and equipped, starting point for the Gran Paradiso. The assigned room was a triple of decent size with balcony, exposed wooden ceiling, adequate wardrobe, the bathroom a little 'small. Good Cleaning Service of the room. Dinner: an appetizer and choice of a first and second course among various courses, always well made, a salad buffet is missing. Good desserts, but a little too repetitive, every night chocolate cake, tiramisu and fruit salad. Breakfast well stocked both sweet and savory. Problems on wifi, in our period almost always not accessible. Total absence of leisure inside the hotel, the TV room used for board games or entertainment closed because they were doing work. If possible, better if done during the closing period, not with the presence of customers. Obviously the area does not allow activities in case of bad weather, so if it rains all day, or spend the day in the room as we did, or take a ride to Aosta putting a couple of hours drive to and from. The reception closes at 9.30 pm, practically shortly after dinner, then you go to sleep or are provided with keys for the return, but hardly the clientele went out when we were there, it was dark and cold outside. The alternatives of accommodation in this valley are not many and I do not think it can have rivals, so I would recommend this hotel as an excellent base for those who want to visit it.

We will not return
Exceptional location but ends here. Hotel still in the 80s. Rooms clean but need to be reviewed. The first night at 1:00 a.m. fire alarm goes off, everybody's awake and dressed but false alarm. In the morning begins to descend water from the ceiling of the bathroom another discomfort with room change. We return at 15.30 after a walk in the mountains but the room and 'frosty and the heaters do not work we ask for explanation and tell us that the heating starts at fixed times so the room does not heat up before 18 (in winter??). Dinner without infamy and without praise (the real Aosta Valley cuisine and 'other!) but the dining room and' cold. After dinner, everyone sleeps at nine because there's no cozy place to stay, there's no fireplace, the owner at nine o'clock disappears, the lights are almost all silent. All this at the modest amount of 100 euros per head per night.... even not! We understood late because out of 30 rooms are occupied only 5 in high season....

heavenly outdoor location
I stayed alone for one night in June at the Hotel Gran Paradiso and I must say that Location outside the structure is truly heavenly.
Externally it is also beautiful the Hotel that fits well into the surrounding nature. Unfortunately, in my experience, I cannot say the same about the interior. Room (double single use) with old furniture (no vintage), just enough bathroom, with shower that if you are not skinny is difficult to get into. Except only the hygiene and cleanliness of the room.
As for the restaurant where I had dinner and breakfast, because in half board, I only say that you eat much better in the two Refuges Chabod and Vittorio Emanuele II., respectively at 2710 and 2735 m.s.l.m.
As far as it is offered in my opinion the price is high (I spent more than 130 euros).
From a 3 Star Hotel within the Gran Paradiso Park I would have expected much more and I am sorry not to share too many positive reviews at all.

Charming
Last hotel in Valsavaranche before starting the paths to Gran Paradiso. Structure very well cared for, large room and with balcony comfortable bed, TV, bathroom with shower a little small, but equipped with soaps. Quality towels and sheets, double pillows if needed.
We chose half board, partly because there is absolutely nothing in the area, and we were very happy with the menu proposed, with choices of first and second courses, and finally two desserts and a rich fruit salad. Very rich breakfast, both sweet and savory, continuously replenished.
Very affordable price.
