The right choice for unwinding!
A wonderful hotel amidst fields. Heavenly peace! The hotel is spread across several buildings, there are plenty of parking spaces, and there are covered shelters for bicycles. We had a cabin room directly under the roof. The elevator does not reach this far, which is important for individuals with limitations. The room was impeccably clean, very cozy, and beautiful. From the bed, we could look up at the starry sky. The breakfast buffet was excellent! Lots of delicious items, very appetizingly arranged, something for everyone. There is no restaurant for the evening; one must walk to Lemkenhafen (about 1.5 km) or search for something in the area by bike or car.

Highly recommended, you will be pampered and treated very nicely!
A very nice place, very well maintained and very clean. Nice quiet location and service is great. “Rouben” is simply awesome, super friendly, funny and very accommodating to always have for a joke, that’s how it should be. We felt very comfortable and breakfast was also awesome, there was nothing wrong! Keep it up, we will definitely see you again!

Avalon - some of the fog was only visible in the steam bath
We were already thrilled by the property upon arrival and first had to see if we were right there! Typo! Great room! Best/freshest breakfast ever! Super nice staff! Everything very clean! Parking in front of the door

It was good stay, BUT we had an incident where our room keys stopped working for our locks (we had a dinner and came back to the room at 21:00).
There was an emergency number to call but no one answered that number. We ended up waiting for almost one hour outside. Lucklily our next room neighbours came home and we could climb over their balcony and do a break in thru a window into our room.
We told the staff the next day and apperently it was the battery in our door that failed so it had to be replaced.

A single disaster
My wife and I regularly travel to good hotels and cannot understand the positive reviews for this accommodation at all.
I've never done this before, but now I'm taking the time to list the many things that completely spoiled our stay at the Avalon and therefore our short break on Fehmarn.
I'll try to make this as brief as possible.
Good breakfast buffet. There is only one coffee machine, and if the breakfast room is well staffed, you stand in line longer. But there is also a pot of coffee on every table. So if you don’t want to wait, you have to do without cappuccino etc. And there comes the next problem. The space is relatively small for this plant. There are signs on what time of day you should come so that you can safely get a seat and not have to wait for a table. That's just early in the morning or later in the morning. It's just like this.
And now to what ruined our vacation.
Upon our arrival we immediately noticed a sign at the reception indicating that the use of the sauna area must be registered in the morning until 11:00 and costs 15.90 € per person per use. There was no mention of it on the platform through which we booked the stay. We approached the employee about this and he referred to the senior supervisor. He couldn't tell where he was. We waited first and then went looking ourselves. Eventually we found him. He didn't want to know about the whole thing and said that was the same. When asked if you can have a look at the sauna area, he replied that this would only be possible from 16:00, then the masseur would be there. We then abandoned the sauna area, because of which we had actually booked this hotel, among other things. It is not primarily about the €15.90 per person, but about the way we are treated as guests. We haven’t experienced anything like this in a hotel. The booking platform later confirmed our view that this was actually co-booked and refunded €50. In the meantime, attention is drawn to the additional costs. But what a circumstance, so I have to book in the morning to the reception about the yard and the sauna visit. And what if you change your mind during the day or have something else planned? Other facilities lure guests with the sauna facility to make the day more relaxing. Here just very different, you have to be back at 4 pm because you have booked it and are asked to pay for it. When wellness becomes stress, something is wrong.
But it goes much further.
The room we then moved into did not have 27 m2 as described, but only 21. The availing seating area were 2 chairs at a desk in front of the bed. In addition, the entire room was heavily soiled. Only after several requests was a basic cleaning. undertaken. We were asked when we were out in the morning. We said from 10am. When we came back in the afternoon around 3pm and wanted to rest, however, had still not been cleaned. So again across the grounds and that moans at the head. Shortly after, the cleaning team arrived. We were able to write off the planned midday rest and left the room again. There was no apology or inquiry as to whether everything was okay now. What can you say? The pollution affected the entire shower area and all furniture that was completely dusty. Behind the TV and on the closet, for example, has not been cleaned for many months, if not years. We captured the whole thing visually. You only dared to go on the carpet if you had shoes on. How other well-maintained premises can report this is incomprehensible to us. Sorry or something wrong.
Next deficiency:
We had booked a non-smoking room. Each room has a rear exit that leads out onto a balcony or small terrace. There is a table with 2 chairs and a beach chair. There is no lateral separation to the next room. The furniture is close together. Privacy thus done, one must live with. But what is not possible at all is that there is an ashtray on every table. Thus, the smoke from the smoking neighbors moves into the room when the door is tilted. So always keep the door closed. However, the room heats up strongly due to the sunlight during the day. There is no ventilation or fan. How could that be?

– The refrigerator cooled very, very little at the highest level.
