Nice stay
Welcoming staff. Nice and clean room. Cool interior. Good to be able to park the car right outside.

Had a great comfortable stay. Breakfast was perfect, room was clean, smgood water pressure in the shower. Unfortunately less comfortable than usual due to the heat wave, room did not have AC but staff helped on providing a fan.

Unfortunately more appearance than reality.....
Actually a visually beautiful house, but: the homepage advertises extraordinary rooms, great pictures of the heritage rooms, bright colors, flooded with light. Therefore, exactly one like that was booked. We arrived on a Saturday at 1:30 PM, the reception was not staffed, no staff in sight. Eventually found an intern who was very nice but unfortunately was not allowed to check in: "No, there is no one here until 3 PM." Can we get a coffee at the bar? "No, it's closed; it opens on Saturdays at 5:30 PM." No chance for a drink, but the recommendation was to go into town. (By the way: Verl is a village, so the selection is rather poor.) So we walked around the town a bit and then sat in the lobby for an hour, with two hotel staff members at the reception, who were not particularly interested in the guests. Another question about whether we could check in: "No." Other guests also arrived with luggage. Drinks? Again "no," but the staff brought fresh drinks from the bar. Service mentality? Around 2:30 PM, one employee finally showed "mercy" and briefly opened the bar as an exception. At 3 PM, all the rooms were suddenly available. The memorial room was very dark; the curtains could not be left open as other hotel rooms directly across had a clear view. This did not correspond at all to the pictures on the website. At the reception, we requested a bright room, which fortunately was not a problem. (Note: the room has an open bathroom!) Means: Glass panel in the shower leading to the bedroom, open sink, which not everyone may appreciate. Dined in the restaurant in the evening, very nice service, and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. In the morning, we went down for breakfast around 7:50 AM. The entire hall was full of guests, of course waiting! Waiting for the "door" to finally be opened. Again, there is a clear feeling that "the guest is actually a disturbance." (We briefly spoke with a few other guests who were also somewhat annoyed.) We did not feel welcome and addressed this at the reception, but it was received with little interest.

great stay
We visited friends over the weekend and spent a night at Wunnerwat. The service was exceptionally attentive and friendly. The double room is very tastefully and modernly furnished; we particularly liked the thoughtful lighting design. The motion sensors automatically turn on a small nightlight or the light in the hallway to the bathroom – thus eliminating the cumbersome search for the light switch.
I also really liked the sauna area. At the reception, I received a bag with a bathrobe, sauna towel, and slippers – so you don't have to bring any of that yourself. In the nicely designed relaxation area, water with lemon or mint was available.
In the evening, we dined together with our friends at the restaurant. After I requested that my main course be prepared gluten-free, the kitchen even brought gluten-free bread a few minutes later – without any further inquiry. This attentive gesture really impressed me.
Therefore, I also asked about gluten-free options at breakfast in the morning and even received freshly toasted gluten-free slices of bread. The breakfast is overall very substantial, and the coffee tasted excellent.

German solidity at its best
One of the nicest hotels we've stayed in. Very quiet location, nice atmosphere, great breakfast and nice wellness. Nice, clean and practical room. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. Tasty restaurants within walking distance and also the ideal base for visiting nearby cities.

The bar is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 12:00 to 00:00 and from Friday to Saturday from 12:00 to 01:00. Please note that the wellness and fitness area is open from 17:30 until 22:00 daily. The wellness and fitness area is included for hotel guests and admission for external guests is €24.90.
