Qubek Hotel is located in the picturesque town of Balakan, 12 km from the Georgian border. It features outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a sauna and a gym. Free Wi-Fi is provided. Excellent hotel

The hotel consists of a number of suites from standard, deluxe to VIP. We initially went into a standard room - king size bed, separate living room and en suite. The extremely helpful manager upgraded us to the deluxe room which consisted of the same facilities but a lot more room and stunning views of the snow capped mountains. The reception area is very clean and spacious as are the seating areas located on each floor. All of the staff are friendly and helpful and despite their being a language barrier in that we do not speak Azerbaijani, all of our questions were answered. The manager in particular, who did speak English was able to recommend restaurants and excursions.
Balakan, itself, is a border town with a pretty park, mountain views and more than enough cafes and restaurants. If you are a wine lover it is difficult to be served with this in the cafes, etc but there is beer/lager on tap. Bottles of all kinds of alcohol are freely available in the many supermarkets. There appear to be only 2 ATM’s in the town and both machines are very well used during the day.

Overpriced run-down hotel

Since, It's the only one acceptable Hotel in Balakan, you don't have too much of choice. Especially it has a pool to, and some rooms have nice view to there. But these were the only advantages. It's one the most runned down hotel, that I've ever seen. Elevator buttons are missing, garage is extreme dirty, pool is neglected, bricks are falling down from the buliding to the pool area.... etc. In addition, absolutely overpriced, and no discount, even if you can't have a breakfast - because breakfast is just from 9AM, if you'd like to leave earlier, no chance to eat,
But, because there is no other choice in the city, stay there, but expect for dissapointing surprises.

Convenient, comfortable and clean

Balakan is where you might end up if you cross the border from Lagodheki (Georgia) into Azerbaijan on a bike. The hotel is as described - restaurant is unappealing (cantina on the fifth floor) so we did not eat there but just down the road there is another hotel with good food. The hotel is earthquake proof as we experienced one of 6,2 on the Richter scale and all was fine !

WONDERFUL HOTEL WITH AMAZING STAFF

Just returned to Baku from Balakan "QUBEK" hotel today and want to leave some feedback. I have stayed in Qubek hotel with my wife and 3 kids during of 6 days. Hotel nominated with 4 stars but I would say it deserves fifth star as well. Hotel has everything for relaxing: fitness, amazing pool, 2 swimming pools (summer and winter), and delicious sauna, massage room and pleasant restaurant with superb staff. I have had a chance to try different dishes in hotel restaurantand would say food in hotel restaurant is high quality and very tasty and prices are very suitable. It is nice that restaurant staff able to prepare any dish as per customer wish. Hotel is organizing tours for guests in different directions - inside and outside of country such: Zakatali, Gakh, Sheki and different cities of Georgia. The staff working in hotel is amazing, happy to provide you with high standard services and make your stay in hotel beautiful and full with good memories. It was difficult to back home today after such rest. Commonly I have traveled a lot and to be honest I have never ever seen such staff in any other hotel around the world and it makes me proud. WELL DONE QUBEK AND ALL THE BEST!

Beautiful New Hotel!

My parents stayed at the Qubek Hotel when visiting me in Balakan where I work and live as a Peace Corps volunteer. Trust me, this hotel in no way resembles the life of a Peace Corps volunteer. It has gorgeous facilities, a delicious restaurant, and an amazing staff that is fluent in Azeri, English, and Russian. My parents loved their stay and we would all highly recommend it! Plus, the mountains as a backdrop to almost every room is a huge plus!
