Trải nghiệm đáng nhớ
Đây là trải nghiệm HanOk tốt nhất mà bạn có thể có. Bạn sẽ không hối tiếc rằng bạn dành nhiều tiền để ở đó. Tôi rất cảm động bởi ông Ryu. Nếu bạn so sánh với những ngôi nhà lịch sử khác, bạn sẽ đánh giá cao ngôi nhà này nhiều hơn thế. Tôi rất t ự hào về anh ta và cách anh ta dành thời gian để duy trì ngôi nhà này. Tôi rất khuyên mọi người nên ở đó.

Hanok và Bảo tàng
Ở lại trong một Hanok thường là phải làm khi đến thăm Hàn Quốc, để trải nghiệm cuộc sống và văn hóa Hàn Quốc. Tôi rất vui vì đã ở lại Bukchondaek,
Giá là đắt so với những người khác, nhưng sau một đêm ở lại tôi cảm thấy nó đáng giá mỗi đô la trả tiền, bởi vì nó là một sự kết hợp của hanok ở lại và bảo tàng nhỏ với cuộc triển lãm đồ dùng gia đình Hàn Quốc được sử dụng 100 năm trước (mắt thật mở cho tôi). Tôi đã học được rất nhiều từ ông Rye (chủ nhân hanok). Ông đã cho chúng tôi đi bộ xung quanh hanok, nhiệt tình giải thích cho chúng tôi về văn hóa và cuộc sống của tổ tiên của ông.
Một số có thể không thích các thiết lập hanok, ví dụ: nhà vệ sinh là khá một khoảng cách từ phòng, tường phòng mỏng và được làm bằng giấy, mang giày khác nhau cho các khu vực khác nhau trong nhà. Chúng tôi tôn trọng tất cả những điều đó, bởi vì đây là cách sống của người Hàn Quốc cách đây 200 năm. The curate's egg
As you know, the curate's egg means that something is good in places, not so in others. I found myself agreeing with the last English review from Oct 2015. Overall, Bukchondaek needs an 'outsider's touch', by which I mean a new and fresh eye to detail and the offering.
First up, the Hahoe village is outstanding and well worth a visit. The buildings and scale are impressive and the setting besides a looping river and cliffs is magnificent. But you need to be aware that you cannot bring your car in until after 6pm - a piece of information that we were not initially told. Watch out in the dark, as the laneways are very narrow and you cannot park more than two cars besides the front gate. We decided to leave our cars in a larger bus parking area by the public rest rooms.
Your host is very pleasant and friendly and will provide you with a wonderful tour of the house and answer any questions you have. You really do have a feeling of staying in a unique property. That said it was too expensive. $600 AUD+ for one 'apartment' is unrealistic. Our room was bare and the side unit for our son was unadorned. We found the futons on the floor to require an additional comforting layer. There was a/c, which was welcome on a warm evening, though it would have been nice if the small fridge had been plugged in (why would it be left unplugged?). The bathroom complex is shared and somewhat tight on space, but this is unavoidable given the nature of the property. If you need to visit during the wee small hours, then be warned that you have to cross the courtyard. You need to wear slippers everywhere so as not to damage the floor, but the ones provided are too small for size 10 up.
Breakfast is at 8:30am and is traditional Korean, with lots of choice. We drink coffee at breakfast and were surprised that none was offered. That is okay for us, but seems out-of-kilter with what many folk would wish.
Our main issue is that construction started just past 7:00am on the building of new accommodation. This surprised us, both for the noise and for the mis-match of traditional accommodation meets jackhammer in a UNESCO site. It did make me feel that the cost was too high in this regard.
Overall, this is a unique property that would benefit from some fresh eyes to thinking how Bukchondaek can continue to marry tradition with the needs of today's travellers.

Live artifact
This is one of the biggest and richest hanok in Hahoe Village.
Though it's a little bit expensive (₩200,000/night), it is worthy.
This hanok is 219 years old and the great parents of the host were some high officials in those days.
The host Mr Ryu is very nice. He welcomed me. The next morning he even introduced the historical background of the house to all of his guests. He speaks very good English as he used to work with big corporate in Seoul until he retired 10 years ago.
The traditional breakfast (inclusive) was delicious too.
The hanok is a heritage. It is extremely beautiful. It's a must to stay if you want to immerse yourself in the Korean tradition and culture.

Staying at a Hanok is a great way to experience traditional Korean life and culture.

Cost: $100/ea person including Korean traditional breakfast. at 8 am. Dinner can be ordered ahead of time: $20/person for a Korean traditional meal only if you are a foreigner. The hanok is a 15 min walk from the shuttle drop off.
Check-in time: 2pm; Check-out time: 11 am
Note: The bathroom was a distance away (~30 meters) with some steps in between, a threshold and a small dry moat (used for water runoff from the roof). The men and women bathrooms were new and had facilities for two people with showers in each one. At night there was very good lighting in the hallways.
There are five bedrooms for guests, all Korean style. This means you sleep on the floor on thick mats and you need to be flexible to get in and out of the rooms. I found the mat to be quite comfortable.
A very good one hour free Mask Performance took place outdoors at the entrance to the village. Worth seeing, started at 2 pm.
In Hahoe there are free tours of the folk village in Korean and English, 1 ½ hr, ask at the ticket or information office.
Mr. Ryu Sae-Ho (owner) is 9th generation of the Pungsan Ryu branch that moved from Pungsan to Hahoe. The hanok is a National treasure (#84), built in 1797 during the Joseon Dynasty. It is the best-preserved hanok in Korea and the biggest house in Hahoe. Note that only nobles (yangban) were allowed to use clay tiles for their roofs, common people used thatch. It consists of inner quarters, master quarters and a shrine. This hanok is unusual in that the ladies’ quarter has a second story. From the grandfather’s quarters one has a great view of Buyongdae Cliff. On the grounds there is a 460 year old tangerine tree (oldest in Korea).
We were there on a very hot day and after taking showers, we found the rooms were comfortable with the windows wide open. A traditional Korean dinner was served across from the hanok in a separate modest home. We stayed in the “daughter-in-law’s room.”
We got up early the next morning and took a walk before having breakfast at 8:30 am. Mr. Ryu (speaks English well) showed us an 18 min. very informative video on Bukchondaek and then took us on a tour of Grandfather’s quarters. He explained the usage of all the rooms and opened all the windows and doors showing a great view of Buyongdae Cliff and the Nakdong River. The doors between the rooms and the hall can be raised to create a large open space. One can also see a 300 year old pine tree that has the shape of the running river.
You can take bus #46 to Andong (1,200 won, runs at 7:15, 09:20, 10:10, 11:10, 12:20, 13:20, etc) from a stop only 5 min from the hanok.
