It really is a "grand view"

The apartments are situated in a very isolated position, about a 20-25 minute walk down a steep hill to the centre of lassi or argostoli dependant on which way you walk (not recommended for the elderly or unfit). The apartments were basic, there is no snack bar or reception area but they were clean and we had a maid service regularly. As there are only a small number of apartments the pool area was very quiet and there is use of free sunbeds. The view from our balcony was really a "grand view" and we had views over argostoli. I would recommend these apartments to couples who want relaxation and value for money.

The worst apartments I've ever stayed!

I usually don't leave reviews and being Greek I know that a lot of hotels and apartments are very basic. However, I feel obligated to warn future residents of this place. The fact that this place was run down, the pool was filthy with no shade and our room was never cleaned didn't bother me that much. On top of that though we were not given any towels and we didn't have any hot water for several days. When we called to complain we were told that the petrol must have finished and someone would fix it and towels will be given to us. As I am writing this review neither has happen yet and I am about to depart from a 10 days holidays which was spoiled because of the lack of so basic amenities. It is a shame really, as the apartments are in a very nice area with great view and with little effort things would be vastly different. I've never experienced such an inhospitable situation before and I know that Greeks are usually very hospitable. Unfortunately, these people are just money grabbing.

Grand views but that's about it

These apartments are up a blooming great hill near to Lassi, and I was thankful we had a car because whoa, what a hill. The views were stunning out the front and back, but...
While the apartments were fairly clean, they were in dis-repair and out of date. On our arrival after lunch (but before 1pm), we were greeted by a woman who showed us to our rooms on the second floor when we had asked for a ground floor one because my mother has a very bad knee and cannot walk far or do stairs very well.
Anyway, this lady spoke very little English, but was polite enough. There isn't a reception. There is a room near to the front of the place which is pretty much off limits; on a few days filled with a mattress... God knows why. I am guessing that there might have been a shop at some point because on the stairs up to the second level, there's a glass case filled with old souvenirs, broken and not much good to anyone, and the case is unlocked.
Our greeting lady left at 1pm each day (roughly) and other people who arrived after 1pm had to wait over an hour to be let into a room.
We had a cleaner every other day, once with a two day gap. Didn't do much save make the bed and change the towels and turn the air conditioning off and open the door onto the balcony to let all the hot air in. Except for that, there wasn't much cleaning going on. Our bins were emptied twice only, and there were ants in our bathroom and our kitchen/hallway despite there being no food in our room (it was in the other).
Cupboard doors didn't shut properly, and our front door had to be slammed to be able to shut it (the same with our french doors to the balcony). We had several storms during our stay and water poured under the door into the rooms and with no mats the floor was like an ice rink, which is really helpful for someone with a bad knee and worse balance.
There was no lock on the bathroom door.
The steps from the first floor to the second are unlit at night, so good luck with that. They are also broken, with a chunk out of one of them and cracks in another. They are marble, so be careful when wet.
There is a pool. It's a fair size, but even when 'clean' it wasn't great. The area around the pool was not cleaned once in the whole time of our stay there. There is no pool bar, and no staff on site for 24 hours, so if you have a problem before 1pm and can't speak fluent Greek, tough, and if you need help after 1pm, double tough.
Halfway through our stay, the pool turned green and cloudy. When the owner arrived to deal with people who had arrived and not been able to get into their rooms, we told her about it, and asked her to do something. She told us it'd been cleaned that morning and that new chemicals that had been put in had made it go green. People, there was algae growing on the bottom and sides of the pool, it was slimy and slippery. Only one half of the pool was green, so the shallow end apparently didn't mind the new chemicals... The owner seemed to not care much and it felt as though we were interrupting their night out which was apparent from their attire.
Okay, back to the rooms. There were four of us, so we had two rooms. In both;
The cooker was nothing more than two hobs and a little microwave sized cooker.
The fridge worked poorly, as did the tiny freezer part.
Seriously the kitchen is like one tiny corner of the room, it's silly.
The air conditioning started working a little tiny bit after an hour of being on and was turned off each time the 'maid' came in so the rooms were stifling after a day out.
The showers were small and cramped.
Toilets weren't filthy but weren't that clean either.
Tiny bin.
One roll of toilet paper.
No soap.
Bathroom sinks were okay.
There was a smell in one of the bathrooms.
There was a mirror in the bathroom, and the main room with the bed(s).
One small table (can pull out).
Two chairs in the 'kitchen'.
Two of everything.
Mismatched crockery.
Crockery wasn't properly clean.
The drawers and cupboards smelt damp.
No washing up items (washing up liquid/cloth/etc)
One bath mat.
Four towels (two hand, two tiny 'bath' towels)
The hardest mattresses ever.
Exposed wiring in one room.
There is a rather large car park, but the driveway, paths and car park aren't very well lit. There are lights, but the bulbs are blown and haven't been replaced.
In one room the tiles are broken and bits are missing. In one of the single beds, there are four or five slats missing. The paintwork is messy and shoddy.
Basically, the entire place has been very neglected. With some love and attention it could be an amazing little place and it is such a shame.
So, if you can avoid it, I would not recommend that you stay at the Grand View Apartments.

Fabulous views

Just returned from these apartments at two o'clock this afternoon. Well they're aptly named as there are indeed grand views from the front and the back but that is where the 'Grand' ends. We've been to Greece many times and we know that Greek apartments are more often than not, basic. But these apartments are more basic than basic. A double room had two tiny cups, plates and dishes that didn't even match. Two sets of cutlery and a couple of pots. The fridge didn't work properly and the 'cooker' was dirty. There's no 24 hour staff. The woman that 'greets' you is only there till around one o'clock and she doesn't speak any English. If you arrive after that it's tough. We saw several new arrivals that had to wait almost an hour for someone to arrive and let them in or were told they were in a certain room and the key was in the door!!! A great start to your holiday. The whole place is in need of a lot of work. We had bare wires in our room on the light over the bed. The ceiling rose wasn't attatched properly for the main light. There was damage to the floor around the French door and when it rained the water came under the front door. We asked for a room on the ground floor and were put on the top floor up lots of steps which is bad for someone who can't walk very well. During the week the swimming pool turned green at one end and it was also cloudy. The grounds are also unkempt and there were no umbrellas round the pool for shade which was desperately needed as the pool is in full sun almost all day. The steps that go up from the ground floor to the top floor also need attention as one was cracked and another was broken. All in all the entire place is in need of a lot of work and was really disappointing. Good job Kaphalonia didn't let us down. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Just like it says on the tin - Grand View!

Not for the faint hearted the Grand View Apartments are located up the hillside from Lassi. However this to us was not a negative feature as it commands unparalled views over both the Sea off the coast at Lassi, and from the balconys of all (upstairs) apartments views across the mountains including the capital Argostoli, the lagoon and the valley beyond.
The small number of apartments means it is very peaceful and private, including the pool.
The rooms are well presented and cleaned/ bins emptied daily. The kitchen area, which is spacious enough to have additional dining table and chairs, has good cooking facilities if you can get by with the usual basic self catering equipment. I would recommend taking the odd toilet roll and washing up things to save buying everything.
Shower room held the kind of fitting that I have seen before in Greece, so that you can't really fix the shower head to the wall. We found the showers somewhat restrictive especially if you dropped the soap, certainly no room to swing a mouse or bend to wash your feet.
A nearby hotel has full pool bar facilities within a 10 minute walk for those wanting the option including big screen TV covering major sporting events. Both Lassi and Argostoli are a good 20 minute walk away, plain sailing going down hill, but slightly tougher going back.
We found it worthwhile hiring a car for at least part of the stay, just to get round and see all the wonderful things that Kefalonia has to offer, a beautiful island.
Overall we loved our stay and can't wait to go back.
Please note you may be befriended by the lovely dog from next door, so tickle her tum from us if you do.
