Staff always available at reception. An excellent restaurant with local cuisine.
A good stop en route to Greece. An easy village to walk our dog around before dinner. Look forward to staying another time.

Was this a one poor visit?
- Reception: on previous visits the check in / welcome was always warm and kicked off the stay on a positive. This visit, there was a general attitude that gave off a coldness that was a disappointment. All the more so given the years we have been staying at this hotel.
- Room: the main challenge was the heat of the room upstairs. We had a family suite that has a room upstairs. This room was very hot with no way to cool it down (there is no window and the 'air conditioning' only provided hotter air). Even the room on the lower level was too hot. It would have been bad enough in summer, but this was October so not to be expected in any hotel. At check out we made the comment and it appears this issue is known to the hotel (so perhaps the best idea would be to fix it so guests can sleep well).
- Restaurant: I was very much looking forward to another great meal, all the more given it was truffle menu season. Unfortunately, more or less everything fell short of expectations. The food itself was not hot enough - barely warm truffled mashed potatoes are not great, let alone a sauce that is too cool. Over the years we have noticed that the truffle menu has become increasingly limited in terms of options. This stay the choices were limited to one item per course. Also, the service in the restaurant was not good. Barely polite at best.
Fortunately, we have had many fantastic stays in the past at this hotel and meals in the restaurant. However, had this been our first stay I do not feel we would have been looking for another stay. Hopefully just bad exception, but I do hope that the hotel & restaurant are able to find their magic again soon.

Nice place, but beware of the direct pricing of rooms.
The direct prices were dearer than the internet, as we booked as 'Logis' members, but it turns out there is no benefit to that at all. Just another marketing rip-off.
There is no English TV (not even BBC world Service) but the food is great, and you are in the heart of the Champagne region. The hotel specialises in many truffle-based dishes, so tuck in.
