Very good experience

I only wish , re time permitting, we could have stayed longer. We booked the Studio and it was well worth the little extra ($20 per night I think) - virtually an apartment - had a separate loungeroom , large separate bedroom with separate bathroom and toilets.
My wife and I were on a tight schedule and could only stay one night - we enjoyed our stay so much we would have stayed longer time permitting.
The Abbey has an atmosphere of stepping back into another era - antiques everywhere.
We could not fault the cleanliness/tidiness of The Abbey. The breakfast was good - hot and filling and served without fuss.
One of the best B&B's we have ever stayed at.
Jannine made us very welcome - I noted other guests were also impressed with the overall ambience of The Abbey and also with Jannine's attentiveness ( we did not get to meet Greg)

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We love our guests and want THE ABBEY to be a lot more than just a nice place to stay, so we are thrilled that you enjoyed your time with us. We hope you are able to come again and hopefully meet the wonderful Greg next time. He would have been at school, or possibly away.

Disappointing

No doubt this has been a glorious place in the past. It is not clean and offers few amenities. The bedding and curtains were torn and the walls were
Dotted with cobwebs. The bathroom was clean. Breakfast inedible

Disappointing

I am surprised by the high reviews for The Abbey. Yes it has some character and olde worlde charm but there is a fine line between this and things being very tired. Our bedroom was very dusty, and there were many.many cobwebs in the bedroom and bathroom. The communal lounge room was similarly dusty and spidery! The garden path entry and front porch needed a good sweep and some tlc. Breakfast, which was included in tariff, was fine. However, it was a choice of continental or cooked but cereal before cooked would have incurred extra cost. Overall, a very average experience.

Loved it. Wonderful caring hosts.

The Abbey is a beautifully restored 1919 presbytery & the architecture and the gardens were just so absolutely beautiful and so unique. There is a covered outside garden which is lovely & peaceful to sit and read or just enjoy the ambience.
I had a lovely 3 week stay here with wonderful hosts, Jenine and Greg looking after my every need.
Breakfast is held in a room at the back. Jenine cooks a generous hot breakfast, and there is cereal and toast as well. Fresh fruit is served with yogurt and fresh fruit juice. Everything was delicious.
As I was staying here while working at the hospital and on different shifts Jenine was very helpful with meal times and also cooked delicious evening meals for me.
This really is a must stay even if just for the experience of staying in this beautiful period building. The hosts of course are an added bonus.

Thank you Norma for your review. You were also a delightful guest. We appreciated having the nurses stay during the lock down and certainly want our beautiful guests house to be a "home away from home" - especially for peopole who are travelling for work. We hope we get to see you again at some stage. Kind wishes to you in the NT.

A lovely place to stay

This is an old manse that has been refurbished into a B and B. It is quiet, homely with welcoming hosts.
We stayed in the Priors room, which had a bath, - most welcome on a cold evening.
The bed was extremely comfortable and the room itself stayed warm throughout the night.
We will certainly stay here again should we be passing through.
